I was 17 and moved to go to college and live on campus. My last 2 years there, I had my own room. My junior year, my roomate never showed up so I lucked out. I had a really big room for it to be a dorm room. Some of the dorms on campus were old and had history behind them. There was one all-female dorm called "The Castle" because it was actually a castle and really did look like one. From what I remember whe it was built a looong time ago, the man of the castle had it built for his wife. It's also rumored that it's haunted. The dorm that I lived in was called "The Manor House" and it actually was an old manor at one time. I loved my rooom, it was spacious and had large windows AND window seats that I would sometime sit on and people watch. That's also said to be haunted by the lady of the manor. Some students report smelling soup cooking or cinnamon rolls baking. She also likes to play pranks on students like moving objects in their room. I never smelled anything cooking but things in my room were moved!
After I graudated I moved back home with my parents for a year and then moved again at 22 and rented my first apartment. It was on the 4th floor, which was the top floor and I had to climb 74 steps to get to it. What a workout for the legs, though!

I paid my way and worked full-time through college and was a commuter...so, I stayed at home a bit longer than expected. Then my dad got sick and I stayed to help my mom take care of him...then he passed away...so I stayed for an additional year so that my mom wouldn't be alone.
Sooooo...I ended up moving when I was 27!

My first year in college, I had seven roommates, and they put us up in a makeshift dorm room made from an old, abandoned rec room... ...there were old ping pong tables in there and everything...four bunk beds...it was a mess, but definitely a learning experience.
