Reality TV and its supporters ruined television. Shows with quality writing and production value are skipped for dumbasses eating shit and leaches. The further dumbification of society is an ongoing trend.

Well, as far as i'm concerned i have an infinite respect for these guys work on ST. Sure not all episodes are genius, but stuff like the Dominion Wars or the Quest for the Xindi weapon are to me the best scifi stuff ever made on a TV show ! One may not like it, but as a writer myself, i can assure u that the writing IS soooo great on ST ! By this i mean that they had a mastery of the interactions between characters that is exceptionnal. I often ended watching a ST episode with sooooo much respect for the producers of this show !

I can understand why.

The frist 3 1/2 years of Enterprise were kind of lame. The last half of last season and this season they really picked it up. It is finally what I expected from the show but I guess it's too late.

There is some save enterprise/save star trek petition on the net right now. The petition is asking for the Sci-Fi channel to step in and continue the series on their network.

Wow, 18 years of at least something Star Trek, and now nothing. At least pump in two more years to flesh out the series. At least equal it in length (7 years average) or close to it.

I agree -- the Xindi weapon and the DSP Dominon War were awesome storylines. But there is so much more of the early story of Star Trek and the Federation to be told. It's like we need something like Star Wars: Episode III to finally bridge the gap in the movie series.

nod Absouletly. The idea about Sci-Fi Channel continue completing the series sounds only logical considering that all of the ST series have followed a 7 year pattern. Hopefully, Sci-Fi will consider this proposal.

Sci-Fi picked up Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica so Enterprise would make sense.

[rant]The Xindi weapon story was okay. As far as the Dominion War, Berman and Braga had practically nothing to do with DS9. The show was referred to the bastard child of Star Trek since people like Ira Steven Behr, Michael Piller and Ron Moore pretty much went off and did what they wanted with the show while Berman and later Braga were too focused on creating and running Voyager. It was because Berman had slacked off in his involvement with DS9 that that show was so great. Sure, they did a pretty good job with TNG since it was already laid out for them, but what they did to the franchise after was wrong and a sell out. I say they sold out because of their push to get more sex into their shows. All you have to do is take a look at Jeri Ryan's 7 of 9 character. That continued into Enterprise as well. (Did someone say "decontamination room scene"?) rolleyes Berman was even quoted in one interview that he did not consider himself a Trekkie and this was just another job to him. No wonder he had no idea what the fans wanted.[/end rant]

I've been saying it for years and years and years...
...and finally, as always, people are starting to see it...
the Star Trek franchise has been faltering consistently since Mr. Roddenberry left us...DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, and every TNG movie have proven that...
...once again...
it's time for everyone to regroup and refigure out what is wrong with the franchise and how can it all be fixed...
first up...Berman's head on a platter...
second...hire veteran Trek novelists (Peter David, for example) to write scripts that are actually...I dunno...GOOD!!!
...I'll stop there for now...

Lilgish, your photo is a trip. But, I must disagree w/your opinion of Voyager. Ok, in the beginning, it may have sucked big time, but the plot got better as the series went along.

'Star Trek' Fans Protest Cancellation of Series

Fri Feb 25, 7:14 PM ET Entertainment - Reuters

By Ben Berkowitz

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "Star Trek" fans from around the world gathered at the gates of Paramount Studios in Hollywood on Friday to protest the impending cancellation of the television series "Star Trek: Enterprise."

Carrying signs reading "It's Not Just a Show, It's a Responsibility" and "18 Years of Loyalty and This Is the Thanks I Get?," more than 100 people massed at the gates of Paramount, where "Enterprise" is produced, to show support for a franchise that has perhaps the most loyal fan base in the world.

None wore costumes, however, in a departure from many gatherings of "Trekkies."

The UPN network, which like Paramount is a unit of Viacom Inc., said earlier this month it would end "Enterprise" in May after four seasons on air. But the fans are not letting it go quietly.

Paramount and UPN officials declined to comment.

"'Star Trek: Enterprise' ... is quality television, unlike a lot of the reality you see on TV today," said Candice McCallie, the Texas-based publicity director for Web site TrekUnited.com and an organizer of Friday's protest.

And organized it was -- attendees had professional laminated badges, posters and even permits from the L.A. Police Department to block the sidewalks around the studio.

Although the original series created by Gene Roddenberry ran only from 1966 to 1969, at least one version of "Star Trek" has constantly been on air since 1987 -- "The Next Generation," "Deep Space Nine," "Voyager" and now "Enterprise."

The current series is something of a prequel, set in the earlier days of human space exploration and the "Star Trek" universe, well before those other series took place.

"Enterprise" is tied for 150th place in ratings this season, according to Nielsen Media Research, but McCallie argued "Enterprise" peaked creatively this year.

"It's some of the best 'Star Trek' we've seen in the 18 years it's been on," she said.

Fans are so dedicated that TrekUnited has raised more than $48,000 to give to Paramount to potentially produce a fifth season of the show.
