I found it Oscar worthy. shrug
The writing was fabulous. And Paul Giamatti was amazing, so sad he didn't get a nom.

Yeah, very haunting, especially since I had a crush on the other one. What the hell was his name.....

I'M SURE YOU'LL TELL ME.

Hey, didn't you just come back from skiing. Not a cast in sight. Glad you're back safe, now ski off a cliff already.

Because it displays of life... the struggles of confidence/insecurities/fears... and in the end... no matter the journey, if one searches long and hard enough... no matter the pitfalls...

innerpeace and self acceptance can prevail.

I loved this movie. I thought the acting was brilliant and the characters believable. To me, it's the epitome of how good a "small movie" can be. The dialogue and story seemed natural. The flow from humor to heartbreak was well balanced. It almost felt like a throw back to the 70s a more 'simple' time for movie. Oscar-worthy movies, IMO, don't always have to be big Epics, controversial or based on true stories.

The Academy seems to honor at least one "small movie" each year, and I think this one is worthy. Much more worthy than Lost In Translation was last year.

Besides, Sardra Oh ROCKS! biggrin

This is the movie that I'm hoping takes home all the awards. I don't think it will, however....

But it is an incredibly beautiful film.I LOVE IT!!!!!

It was good, but I didn't go ape over it like everyone else. I find it hard to relate to "pathetic drunk gets the babe" scenario.

My favorite part was when the greasy waitress brings them some handi-wipes and the Thomas Hayden Church character says, "Oh, I thought you were giving me a condom."

LOL

Exactly. I enjoyed the movie, it made me laugh, but my big problem with it was just what you said. Giamatti was fantastic, but let's look at the character: a sloppy drunk with poor hygiene and little regard for anyone's comfort or feelings except his own. If the character were a female, men wouldn't get near her with a ten-foot pole. But at least in the movies, we're supposed to believe that men can be as disgusting as they want to be, and still get to bang two out of the three beautiful, sweet, intelligent female characters in the movie.

My favorite part was when the greasy waitress brings them some handi-wipes and the Thomas Hayden Church character says, "Oh, I thought you were giving me a condom."

LOL

Mine was the naked guy running out of the house. evillol I can't remember the last time a movie made me shriek and cover my eyes like an eleven-year-old girl. lol
