Do you? Get excited at the first bit of good news or does it take a while to sink in?
I got promoted to 'team leader' at work today together with a new pay rise; the funny thing was, my boss thought I was dissapointed to begin with.  he he! It's beginning to sink in now whilst I write this....

It usually takes a little while to sink in if it's good news about me personally, just like you described with getting the promotion.
