Saying farewell to a friend on Valentines Day...

I officially have something to be sad about on Valentines Day. Unfortunately I had to put my dear cat to sleep today. It was a horrible experience. He was dying from Diabetes and everything seemed to have spun outta control with him in just a span of 5 days...cry I had him for 13 years and he was an excellent companion. I just didnt think it would happen this soon. The poor cat would've never been the same had I allowed him to be alive and his body wouldnt even take the med's they were trying to give him. Ive been a mess all day but Im getting better. Has anyone ever gone through what Im going through right now? cry

Oh, CherrieMoonKisses, I'm so sorry to hear about your cat.
It's painful when we lose a pet, they're like members of our family.
I lost a dog once and was thoroughly depressed, so I know what you're going through. I hope you feel better. hug pat

I do feel for you. It's never easy to put a pet down. I had to do it last year and it was the hardest and saddest time of my life.

I'm thinking of you, and if it's any comfort I really do believe in an afterlife for pets.

I went through this back in November. My cat 'Simon was the nicest cat I had ever met. He had a liver problem and we had him on medication and everything but nothing seemed to be helping. He was only 3 years old and his body just wanted to give up sad

It is a very hard thing to go through. If you need to chat pm me anytime hug

It sounds like you gave your Sparky a very loving life. Keep that with you along with all the fond memories you have of him.

RIP Sparky rose

Yes, I've been there and it's a horrible thing to go through, but things do get better.

Hold on to the happy memories if you can-it hurts, and it's supposed to but the more you remember the happy times and hold on to those-they stay alive forever in your heart and your mind.

We're lucky if we've got some special people in our lives that touch and enrich it as we get older, and I think this definitely applies to pets too.

Hang in there.

bawl This thread is making me cry! sad hug CherrieMoonKisses, I can relate totally to how you are feeling right now. I have had to have 2 cats put to sleep because they too got old and the meds were not working. sigh I know it's hard, like losing a family member. sad
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
