RE:HOSPITALS

Okay I had a real family emergency with my 84 yr old Grandmother and she had to be admitted to the hospital. She is stable and at home with me now but.....

The staff threated me because..... I took MY OWN Clorox disinfection wipes and cleaned her bed and floor everyday. Because the 4 days she was there I NEVER SAW A HOUSEKEEPER.

And I went 5x day day and everytime she was soaking wet and tied to the bed. On this heart ward there are only 3 pts to a nurse and 5 aides for the area.

I cleaned her up everytime, was scared to death of her getting bed sores. They would call me at home telling me she pulled cath out, she said becasue it was hurting her when it was filled up !!!!

If I got this king of treament and I was seeing about her everyday, imagine folk with no family to care. I disinfected the room everytime because the hospital across the street from this one has 28 lawsuits from infections from filth. You cant be too careful in a hospital!!!!!

Heavenly

This sounds horrible. The staff is so used to these sights that they probably get apathic more and more every day, until it comes to this.
disbelief

Best wishes to you and your grandmother hug rose

sigh This is disgusting...I'm so sorry that you and your grandmother had to go through this.
If I were you, I wouldn't let this rest. Keep calling and complaining until someone listens to you. Call the hospital president...call the local news station and newspapers.

I totally agree with this suggestion about the local media. If a hospital thinks it's going to be affected financially or have its public image tarnished, they seem to take notice faster and suddenly be more "willing" to make actual changes vs. if you just contact them directly and voice your personal disgust/anger.

My mother has worked in a clinic/hospital for over 30 years and I'm constantly reminded and repulsed by how seemingly more concerned with finances and public image a medical facility is than with its service to helping the ill. Maybe I'm jaded but that's how it seems to me.

But, yes...get in touch with your local media and let them know how awful conditions and care is at that hospital. The hospital won't be able to blow them off as easily as they might a single, private individual.

Good luck and I hope your grandmother is well soon. hug

This is so horrible, I'm so sorry you and your family have the added trauma of bad care

i really think you should report it !

I have seen first hand bad care can occur and if people don't make a fuss it will continue

this is the last thing you need when you have so much else more important to do like the state of your grandmother to be concerned with how clean the hospital is hug

i really really really hope this gets sorted out sweetie my thoughts are with you.

oh and about the media, seeming in this day and age the media will often win, afterall if it's just your grandmother the hospital will probably not give a fcuk because nobody seems to value human life anymore but call the media in and let them loose face money that is when something will be done, it's really sad but true is probably a good idea and put everything in writing too, letters work better!
