It is a smart virus Rhonda. Appears it is mutating.

I for one am now abstinent for over a year. Thing is it is working against me. The longer I go on this path the more afraid I have become to consider stepping off it.

Which brings me to a good question... How safe is safe sex?

When my daughter was two, her sitter sat me down to tell me the family secret. Her husband had HIV... She wanted to assure me he wouldn't use the same things as my daughter and wanted my blessing for my daughter to continue in there home.

rolleyes Sad how terrified society is causing people to fear being in the same house. Yet I fully knew that this was a painful disclosure. This was 13 years ago. I have had many HIV infected people in my life. I do not think it is something that happens to someone else.

I do admit that it has backfired on me in the sense that I fear transmission ( through sex only)

Well, look. I'm all for abstinence if it's what a person really wants, but. . .

You drive cars and ride in airplanes and do other potentially dangerous things that you could theoretically do without, right? Sexuality is a pretty fundamental part of the human experience. I'd give up driving long before I'd give up sex, but as long as I'm doing both, I use condoms with people other than my trusted long-term partners, and I wear a seatbelt. If I wanted to be even safer, I'd use condoms EVEN with my trusted long-term partners, and I'd buy a new car with airbags, but when I weigh risk vs. benefit, it's not worth it to me.

Get what I'm saying? Life is risky, especially if you intend to enjoy it. shrug

This is in NO WAY an endorsement of unsafe sex, you know? I just think a fox like you keeping cock out of your bed due to fear is T-R-A-G-I-C. wink

As is the continuing social stigma attached to HIV/AIDS. It's sad that your sitter had to worry like that. sad
