How many of you are currently in therapy? A bit intrusive, I know.

I'm a social worker, so I can find you a psychologist smile

And to answer your last question- I'm not in therapy currently, although I have done therapy.

And, with the team of people I work with. We pretty much do group therapy every day. smile

Psychology is crap ; trying to determine somebody's personality
based on some vague theories in books doesn't always work , imo

I took about a year of Psychology. That was my major at one time.

Means nothing really. What do you need help with?

That's not what psychology is all about. That's "movie-psychology": hypnosis, regression, determining someone's character at a glance ... not very realistic disbelief Psychology is about human behaviour in general and very interesting nod
I almost have a degree in psychology (hopefully in about half a year)

WOAH!!!! Slow down there, Tiger! I have a BA in Psychology (and a BS in Business - I don't use my Psych degree really), but you definitely have a misconception of the field, as do A LOT of people outside the field.

Psychology is a SCIENCE, just like chemistry, biology, etc.... We use the scientific method, experiments, research, etc just like any other science. Sure, everyone is technically different, but all of our brains work in similar ways - the connections between neurons and the messeges being sent, how we process and store information, etc has some universal "constants"....if it was purely on a "personal" basis, medications would NEVER solve things like depression, bi-polar disorder, social anxiety disorder, etc as every person would need a "personal" prescription to cure their problem...

So, point being, I can understand your misconception of psychology as it's quite common...oh, and btw: there is SO MANY other areas of psychology other than Clinical - in fact, I wasn't really interested in Clinical as much as I was interested in Bio-Psych and how the brain works in general, even across species lines....very interesting shit.... nod

Go talk to a psychiatrist. They'll be able to find a medicine that will help you out. Like I told my ex-girlfriend, you should treat mental illness just like any other ailment in the body. If your stomach hurts constantly for awhile and nothing seems to help, what do you do? You go see a doctor. The same thing is true for your emotional well-being. Therapy and medication have worked WONDERS for me personally as well as people very close to me. Don't be afraid just to go talk to someone to see if there are options - there's always ways to make you feel better. nod
