Okay, I just tele-filed my taxes (via telephone) this morning, and you'll never believe what happened. I entered in all of the figures that were requested and verified that the answers were correct. Then I got to the part where I was asked if I wanted direct deposit or a check mailed to my address. Well, I didn't want direct deposit, I wanted the check instead, so I pressed "1" on my touch-tone phone. Can you believe that I didn't get the amount of my refund, and that it skipped over to give me my confirmation number? pissed

I called the IRS directly and asked them if they could possibly give me the amount of my refund (since I would like to know, I need that money!). The lady I spoke to told me that since I had just filed my taxes that very day, that I would need to wait 2-3 weeks before they would be able to give me that information. pissed I am sooo pissed right now, because I really wanted to know how much money I was getting back, so that I can use it to pay bills, etc. The woman I spoke to on the phone was kind enough to give me some local places that I could go to be able to get the number that I'm looking for. Right now I'm considering looking at last year's telefile that I did for my 2003 taxes, and to see if I can't figure it out myself.

It's been nothing but headaches this year as far as filing my taxes go. First, I didn't get the government form that I needed in order to be able to file my taxes, then, when I do file them, I can't get the most important number that I need. What the hell?!?!?!
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Doing taxes is something not too many people enjoy doing, I'm afraid.

I think I've done them before the deadline only once. Plus I itemize & do them myself, it's a beyooootch pout

Taxes are a bitch, no doubt about that.

woot! I've heard of TurboTax before, but have never done it that way. Sounds great to get it deposited so quickly! biggrin

Turbo Tax is key. This was my second year using and I love it.

Cool! When I tele-filed my taxes today, I got a recording saying that this year was the last year for filing taxes over the phone. I guess in the future, it's going to be e-filing (via Internet), which is a-okay by me. Hopefully, I will be able to get the amount of my refund (if applicable) right away, and not have to wait.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

No, because when you file by telephone, you're prompted what figures to punch into the IRS computer system that are needed to calculate your taxes. It's all computerized so that once you put in the numbers, the amount of your refund/payment due is calculated automatically for you. For some reason, it skipped over the amount of my refund, and unfortunately, you can't go back to get that figure. The good news is, this is the last year that telefile will be available. Next year it's all going to be via the internet, which should be a little better. thumbs up!

I always have someone do mine since I have other things besides wages to claim, such as property tax on my house, etc. Math isn't my strong suit, so I get help to get a maximum return.

Consider yourself lucky. giggle After all the trouble I have gone thru with getting my taxes completed, I think I would welcome the chance to e-file, use Turbotax, or whatever. smile

Okay peoples...here is my scenario...tax refund federal $3550.00 state refund $292.00. Turbo Tax takes you step by step...including prompting you to enter addtional deductions (car registration, child care...I mean everything). It continually tells (on the screen) what your current refund is (or not) and you never have to guess. I did it in 2 hours (approximately) over two ro three days. My basic information was saved from the year before and automatically loaded.

Turbo Tax Basic Federal 9.95
Turbo Tax State 24.95
Refund Processing Fee 19.95

Total 54.85 to be deducted from my refund ...and then direct deposited ...within 10 days.
I sound like an advertisement...but here you go...view the demo...save your brains!!!

www.turbotax.com

If I can answer any quesitons let me know...I used to try to do them myseld and suffered immense brain damamge...that is why I am so happy with this!
Its also why I can't spell.... lol
