I need to know what a roasting means in american Pie

I got an e-mail saying....

on saturday why don't you come over for a roasting as i have a few days off?

yeah i know him from a while ago, every now and again in the past i got an e-mail but now he knows I'm single he seems to have stepped up a gear

i knew it was a bad idea having the same e-mail address i had when i was at school
