how did it feel?

i used to pass out all the time when i was in junior high school and high school. i think it was a "growing pains" kind of thing...i passed out at an anti-drug scare tactic movie in health class, i passed out at a cheesy 'movie of the week' that our history teacher showed us for some weird reason (it was a movie about a little girl who had to have surgery but was allergic to anesthetics so they just operated on her raw - i have no idea why we had to watch that crap in history class), i passed out during a drunk driving movie in drivers ed class, i passed out once when i was watching my mom donate blood, and i passed out one time when i was donating plasma in college.

i almost passed out in the cinema watching the movie 'crash', but i breathed into a paper bag for a while and i was fine.


oh yes, i passed out plenty. haven't done it recently, though.

yeah...she fainted when I knocked her on her ass.

I've fainted a few times...

Once when I was in high school and I had the chicked pox...I was standing in front of the bathroom mirror and all of a sudden I heard a crash and woke up in the bathtub!

I've also blacked out a few times because of low blood sugar...

I once passed out during a Prince concert I think it was because of a lack off oxygen

Twice ...both times after having a c - section

I've only ever fainted once, the day I'd come home after an operation I'd had four days prior.

I was standing in the bathroom looking in the mirror and started feeling really woozy and weird (like everything around me was getting really small and far away, if that makes any sense..) so I walked out into the living room and told my boyfriend I felt like I was going to faint. The next thing I knew I was lying on the floor and my boyfriend was holding my head and yelling upstairs for my mom.

The strange thing was that The Simpsons were on the living room TV when this happened, and I actually had an entire long - or so it seemed to **me** - dream about the Simpsons while I was passed out so I thought I'd been out for a substantial amount of time. But, when I asked my boyfriend how long I'd actually been out, he said probably only half a minute or a minute.

funny you should have a bike as your avi... first time was in grade eight. borrowed a friends bike. remember how little guys are in grade eight? the bike was too small and i skinned my knee, but felt fine. 10 minutes later when i was inside my friends mother saw me turn white and slid me down the wall.

i just remember kind of feeling fuzzy


the next (sort of) time was a couple years ago. i was changing the dressing for my friend on her staples after back surgery. it was gross and i was sure i was causing her pain. i felt my self going fuzzy again and headed for the nearest chair. took a long time before i felt like i could stand again.

guess i won't be becoming a nurse anytime soon

A few times, maybe 3 or 4. But I only know WHY it happened ONE of the times - heat, humidity, no air, no sleep,no food. The others are a mystery, nothing directly attributed to my passing out Kinda worries me

Has anybody else dreamt while they were passed out? Is that a common occurrence?

When a tornado almost destroyed our town. I got weak in the knees and couldn't run.

I was like "we're all gonna die!!!!"

Have the incidents where you passed out all been recent and/or close together, or are they spread out over a number of years?

One time I was up late at night and had to go wake up my boyfriend for whatever reason and he came out to sit with me in the living room. The lights were out and I was in the midst of talking to him (he was sitting on the couch and I was in a chair next to the couch) and he didn't answer me when I'd asked him a question, and then I heard these sounds kind of like snoring or something coming from him.

Well, it was dark and at first I thought that he'd fallen asleep while I was talking to him and so I turned on the nearby lamp and I saw his head was leaning back on the back of the couch and he was making these weird breathing noises and his eyes were still kind of open, and so got up and leaned over him and started yelling his name and kind of shaking him but got no response. I know this sounds weird and cold but for a minute I was almost angry at him because I thought he was playing a mean trick on me....nothing like this had ever happened before and I guess my mind just didn't accept at first what was really occurring.

I noticed his lips were bluish colored and I kept yelling his name and saying "Wake up wake up wake up!" but he didn't, so I grabbed the phone and called my mom - probably I should've called 911 or something but I wasn't thinking straight - and was in the middle of describing to her what was happening when he FINALLY (thank goodness!) came to. He said later when he woke up he couldn't figure out why I was standing over him crying into the phone and shaking him because the last thing he'd remembered was just sitting there in dark listening to me.

He was all pale and shaky for awhile afterwards.

We went to the ER that night and they did some tests and found nothing wrong with him and it's never happened again. We figured it was just because he was overtired or something. Scary as hell though.

Next time you have a checkup you should maybe mention it to your doc.

I was on a plane once & felt the guy next to me kinda put his head on my shoulder I looked over & he was frozen, shaking, tilted to one side, eyes & mouth open I was FREAKED. I tried to tap him, shake him gently, but he wouldn't snap out of it. He was like that for about 20 seconds. Then he was fine, didn't remember it at all. He felt strange afterward but didn't know why. And we still had another 3 hours to go on the flight!!! I was so scared he was gonna hurl or sieze or something, but he was fine for the rest of the flight. Thank goodness.

It's scary what your body can do. And scarier when you can't figure it out

Yikes to what happened to you on the plane! I'm glad he was OK the rest of the flight. I think if that had happened to me when I first looked over at that guy I would've thought he was dead.

And yes, the human body can sure do some bizarre and very frightening things for no understandable reason.

Doctors

Hm. maybe I should be a doctor... I can blow off people's aches and pains just as good as they can.

Yep just last week, I have low blood pressure and I ran down stairs (felt sick, had to hurry to get to the toilet in time).

Don't know what the actual fainting part felt like (cant remember), but before you faint it's a bit like fading out, falling asleep real fast and not being able to control it.
The part waking up is horrible, confusing and painful (bruised from falling), my hands were tingling for quit a wile and I was scared to get up (didn't want to fall down again).

I remember being on the stairs and the next thing I know, I wake up in the living room on the floor between the chairs, head aching

I'm glad you're OK.

Your post reminded me that my arms and hands were tingling too when I woke up from fainting.

Never fainted. As weak as I am, and with all the lack of vitamins, I'm still pretty strong.

I used to faint all the time because I have a medical problem which means my heart doesn't pump the blood around my body as efficiently but for the last 4 years hardly at all

i fainted recently through just being stupid and not eating and not looking after myself. I always get a weird feeling before i pass out like a heavy weight on the back of my head and my mouth goes dry my eyes feel odd and then i wake up on the floor. such fun

Yes, I used to faint all the time. My worst experience was when I was in college, my professor was talking about ways that women performed abortions on themselves at home. The methods were pretty nasty. I became queasy and hot, next thing I knew, they were picking me up off the floor. Don't know how long I was out or what they did to me while I was out. LOL

It's just like a deep sleep, then you wake up. Being under anastesia feels the same way.

I wasn't alone, but with my children (10 and 4) which somehow made it worse, I had to call my daughter (they where still sleeping, 6 in the morning). And she was shocked by the whole thing. I tried to be as calm and reasonable as possible, but she had to go for help (she did, and even tried to comfort me )
I did hit my head (probably on the chairs I was lying under, still is bruised today) and my knee was big, blue and swollen as well
