Aquarius is often thought of as a visionary. When we vision, we look beyond the norm and question accepted truths. We boldly claim originality and fly in the face of reason. We feel it is our duty to question, believing that blindly following the dictates of others only causes us to lose our way. Today's radical new theory becomes tomorrow's practice; and that next great innovation could come from you! Heads up all you techy geeks: this is the New Moon to give form to that crazy idea that's been rolling around in your brilliant head. You may just have the next new, new thing that will revolutionize life as we know it.

Well it's here; the New Moon for radical change. And what an overwhelming Aquarius New Moon this will be with the Sun/Moon/Mercury/Neptune/Venus conjunction in Aquarius making a trine to Jupiter in Libra. If there was ever was a time to make change happen not only within, but also between you and your close relations and/or the wider community, this is it.

Change is good! Reflect upon how you felt when you read that last sentence. Did you feel a pit in your stomach? Did you scoff at me? Did you feel a powerful YES! reverberate in your psyche? Really it all comes down to one's attitude toward change and this is the New Moon to throw out the old and bring in the new! This is the time to seek and destroy worn out modes of thinking. The Aquarius New Moon asks each of us to awaken to the reality of our lives. To see it as it truly is (no rose colored glasses allowed) and then envision a better life; one free of old rules and restrictions that reflect your I can'ts, I won'ts, I'm unable, and I'm scared. This is a truth or dare New Moon. Recognize your present circumstances and then dare to vision beyond them, past the boundaries of the known into the unknown.

The Moon symbolizes one's relationship to the inner life, emotions, and deep personal needs. Aquarius tends to set aside personal needs and feelings, focusing more on the emotional needs of the group. So this New Moon requires a bit of work to reach deep down and connect with change on a personal level; doubly so with both Moon and Venus in Aquarius. Add Neptune's presence in Aquarius, and those plagued by self-delusion, confusion, and denial will have to work especially hard to see life as it is, not as they wish it to be. The interesting thing about self-denial is most of the time we are more than aware of the things we deny and often it is the fear of facing inner pain, sadness and disappointment that prevents change. It is a process of refusal not ignorance. This is the New Moon to give up excuses and make a commitment to real and effective change.

The Aquarius New Moon is all about individuation and freethinking. It is a time to get free of self-imposed restrictions and think out of the box! Use your ritual to indulge in "what ifs" of life: Question expectations, career choices, relationships, attitudes, desires and commitments. It's all up for grabs on this New Moon. With the current optimism of Pluto in Sagittarius, there should no problem thinking big when it comes to change. Let your mind and heart soar like an eagle to places it has never dared go. And remember with Aquarius, success comes from connecting to the needs of your generation and making your life a testament to upliftment.

On the other hand, if your life feels more like a prison than a gift, this is the New Moon to commit to freeing yourself once and for all. This can include releasing unhealthy relationships, workaholic tendencies, addictive behaviors, substance abuse, and even poor dietary habits. Use the next two weeks as the Moon waxes to full, to research tools for healing, and make time every day to reaffirm your commitment to change. Release your desire to the universe and start your program on the Full Moon in Virgo, the ruler of mental and physical healing. Remember, it is always easier to let go of something during the waning phase of the Moon.

Aquarius is all about the "power of one" to change the circumstances of the many, especially this New Moon with Sun (ego/self-identity), Moon (emotional needs), Neptune (interconnection and unconditional love), Mercury (the mind), and Venus (the heart), trine Jupiter in Libra (a joyful relationship to world). We are all equally responsible for the condition of our world. Global change begins at home. How you live, the quality of your thoughts, speech, and actions has a profound effect upon all life on this planet. Since change can happen from within the system or outside of it, only you know which is the proper path to follow.

The Neptune/Mercury conjunction to the Sun and Moon is extremely helpful for doing powerful ritual work to realize a long held dream. This Aquarius New Moon is perfect for identifying that calling, visualizing the appropriate form for sharing it, and strategizing about how to get help from friends and neighbors.

Since Aquarius rules our relationship to the collective, and the Moon is joined by Neptune in Aquarius, we will have optimal conditions to work toward deep spiritual change on a global level. Because Neptune rules peace, compassion, surrender, understanding and unconditional love, this is a New Moon ritual that can be shared with a group of likeminded individuals who are also focused on global change. This is also the time to put some ritual magic behind the desire for peace. It is a special kind of magic; one full of Aquarian awareness of the necessity for change, but fully conscious of the need for that change to be of a heartfelt (Moon and Venus) and loving (Neptune/Pisces) nature. Radical change and terrorism need to be decoupled now or we will continue to experience the horrors of violence as a means to effect change.

Radicalizing traditionally entrenched systems by embracing openness to innovative views is a very Aquarian act. Think about how you can become a force for change at your workplace, in your neighborhood, and at home. Change is good! So this New Moon, commit to changing your life and you will change the world. Ride the wave of this mind-altering, life-altering New Moon Cycle.
