I just signed the lease on my new apt yesterday. I am so exited I can hardly contain myself. We're moving into a 2 bedroom next week. It's only like 6-7 blocks away...but it's up the hill and that mean NO MORE CRACK MONSTERS No more pee smell on my block. I can still walk to work (but getting home is gonna be a dilly, i'll probably take the bus as the hill is really steep).

I do have to say that the next few weeks are gonna be crazy. Gotta pack this week. We move next weekend. Our friend visits from chi-town on following thursday. I got superfunkycaliyourmomma on Sat. HOOO-WEEEE!!! I'll have to turn into super-bob to pull this off Good times!

The reason we need to move is we are in a one bed room now, but all of our artist stuff in in the living room. We have been so cramped. It was going to be a challenge to find something so Casey can have an office. AND to find something with storage. I pretty much had to have a dishwasher and laundry in the building. This has both and THE LAUNDRY IS FREE!!!! Extras would be maybe an outdoors. maybe a dining room...

Oh so the tour...

FROM THE FRONT DOOR

So you walk up a flight of steps to the door and there's the lil "froyer" with a midget door. If we don't find a midget, we'll probably just store stuff in it. BTW we now have a huge walkin closet now and we need to find a place for all the Burning man stuff...i.e. tents, coolers, chairs shady structure. ANd my vinyl....and his comic books...and the bins of fabric and bunny crap. So this works out as storage Number 1.

I think we may just put a coatrack here. And a something to put our keys in. We have a Secratary that needs to go somewhere.

The window looks out to the light well. And you can see the door to the light well too.

THE LIGHT WELLthe tour countinues...

We come to the door of the light well...but before we do...you may be asking yourself what the hell is a light well? It's basically a shaft in the building and you can see the sky when you look up. When it rains there is a drain on the ground (in blue). I was adamant about being able to have plants at my new place. I really want to have lots of them. Well...this is perfect for that.





Ok doors open and you can walk into it. On the left is tthe window to the "froyer" and ont he right the window looks into the small bedroom or "Casey's Office" I have a pic of it but it's not interesting at all. It has a closet in it. He has this huge ugly desk/flat file storage thing. THAT's going in there. I will also nudge him to paint and varnish the top so it ain't so ugly.



notice the plant hooks...just waiting for a plant to be hung.

The Bedroom/Hall of Mirrors/Ex-Porn Room

OK so this place has LOTS of mirrors. In both bed rooms. It's just crazy. We will have to find something to cover them up like fabric or something.

The split bath

Lots of people find the split bath with water closet and tub seperated charming. It seems to be in many of the apts I have seen. I find it a tad annoying, as I like to do all my business in one place. Though I do have to add that when Casey is taking a shower, I can use the facilities with out disturbing him.

And then that light at the end of the tunnel opens into a large area of kitchen split into the Living room. Each is open...and has it's interesting qualities.

I hadn't realized that I have an open...eat in kitchen. I can put a table in it! Such a small thing..yet means so much, you know?


The living room with the "menace"

Ok the room is wide or something but as you'll see there is this non-working fireplace that is a space menace. It just juts out and has no purpose. I think I'll make it into an alter or something.

The Outside...

OK..a back door connected to the Kitchen...which you can see in the pic with Casey opens to our patio. It's just us on our level.

So here we see the "red shed" and to the right is the "patio" and you can also go down or up out here. If you take a look at the photo witht he back door...there is a kitty door. How fab is that. My two cats will be in heaven. I checked and there is NO way for them to get out of the back area unless they can climb a 6ft wooden fence. So I am very happy about that.




Here is the "red shed" that we'll either hide the dead bodies in or put more of the Burning man stuff. Or maybe that's where Casey will lock me in when I've been bad. I did seeing him eyeing it for a lock. On the side of it can can have cat carriers and coolers there.




ANd the patio...



you can see into the living room from here. (see the menace ) I am thinking a pompasan chair and a table out here for me.


So that's it. It's nice and affordable for SF. I'll be slowly going crazy over the next 3 weeks and will porbably get into a tiff or 2 with Casey just becasue you do when you move. SOmeone snaps and that's usually me. Wish me luck.

it has lots of character... and you can put one of those candle things in the fireplace, it won't be such a menace!

once you have furniture in the bedroom the mirrors won't be so bad... admit it, that's why you took the place, isn't it??

and i can see plants all over the place... looks great!

I think this is the best place I have ever looked for and moved into since I have been on my own. It's always been what will do, not what I want. It's not super perfect, but it's closer on the scale to what I want than previously.
