Unfaithfullness, have you done it, how do you feel about it ?

Yep, under a pseudo name. Ive been there and done it. What do you think the chances are of being unfaithfull and still continuing with the original relationship ?

Im suffering from guilt just wondering whether Ive ruined the relationship Im in. Do you think its possible to go on and pretend nothing happened ?

MrJoker

I have a very long story for this, but no time to type it all out. To summarize, it is possible to go on if you're significant other is a very forgiving person and you truly regret what you had done.

Chances are great, folks do it all the time...

Im suffering from guilt just wondering whether Ive ruined the relationship Im in.

If you're the kind that's haunted by guilt, you'll probably fold soon. But it depends - if you're a man, your woman may not leave you. If you're a woman, just start packing now...

Do you think its possible to go on and pretend nothing happened ?

Sure biggrin

BTW, I've never actually cheated while in a relationship. I kissed another guy once but I didn't feel bad at all b/c the relationship was dead anyway, at that point I was just choosing a casket. neutral

I would never do it, integrity within a relationship is too important to me. If I had feelings for someone else, I would be honest about it, I wouldn't sneak around and try pretend like everything is fine, if you love the person you're with, you have to put yourself in their shoes, and be aware that being tempted by someone else would be hurtful enough, but to do it behind their back just makes it that much harder...

I think some relationships can definitely withstand a betrayal, but MrJoker is right, it does depend on how forgiving your partner could be, and whether the person who cheated is truly regretful, if you both really love one another... it can work... but I would imagine it would take a lot of time to truly heal, if ever.

I've never been unfaithfull although I might be in the future. I've become a bit more open and relaxed about relationships these days.

I wouldn't worry about it. You only feel guilty because you wonder what your partner would feel if they knew. The truth is, it's totally possible that your partner may be having weekly gang-bangs with complete strangers but they will never tell you, they would always deny it, and there is no reason you should ever find out the truth. You should address this 'possibility' by realising your own possibilities - that way, you'll feel a lot more comfortable with the possibility that your partner is getting gang-banged. thumbs up!

There's a difference between being unfaithful and having open relationships. I have intimate relationships with other people, but my husband knows and is fine with it, so it's not cheating or being unfaithful. Those things imply lying and hiding.

I've never been unfaithful to a partner, but I've been cheated on before. And I stayed him for quite a while after, but I didn't really ever truly forgive him, so things were basically doomed.
Course, he was a nut and while he was truly sorry he hurt me, I never really believed it wouldn't happen again. And I was right. And I went back to him again. And then somewhere along the way I got sick of it all and left him.
The sad thing is, he's a dog to this day. He still lives in Mpls and it seems whenever I bump into him, he's got a girlfriend, but he still propositions me. Once he did this at a party we both happened to be at and she was there with him, just across the room. I feel sad for her.

Yeah, it was. But it's long since over now. smile

As for the secrecy thing, I think under certain circumstances that can be an OK thing, but it is also a slippery slope.

Unless you mean you're being a bit more open minded about fucking around behind a partner's back, my point stands.
