Fucking rain! I tell you what, It has literally rained cats and dogs in Melbourne in the last 48 hours and it's freezing. We are in February, when temporatures usually average about 28 celcius, and yesterday the thermometer peaked at 13 celcius. It was the coldest February day on record!
Not only was it cold, it rained hard, non-stop for over 36 hours and created a record for rainfall in such a short time. Many streets are flooded, tress have fallen, and general chaos abounds. My kitchen sprung a leak in the roof and water flooded in, and I mean flooded in . We called a plumber yesterday but despite telling us he was coming he never showed. He never rung either and would not answer his phone when I tried to ring him later . I then tried to get another plumber but couldn't raise one as by then evry bastard was being flooded. Anyway, we managed to get one out to the house today (he actually showed up ) and he is on the roof at home at the moment. I wonder how much this is going to cost me? Oh well, at least I'll be able to use my kitchen. p.s Dont tradesmen suck? When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

Update:
My wife just rung and said that the roof is fucked over the kitchen and needs to be replaced. It was apparently contructed badly in the first place and has poor guttering etc. It's going to cost about $4000 to fix. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

It's an old double fronted Victorian brick house. However, the roof over the kitchen is less than 15 years old and was done as part of the renovation/extention. That sucks BKW... as a fellow Melbournian I feel for you "There comes a road in every man's journey that he's afraid to walk on his own.
I'm here to tell you, I'm at that road. And I would rather walk it with you than walk it alone".

We have monsoon season here so I feel your pain. Used to be knee deep in water before measures were taken to raise the street level and improve drainage.
