Birthday treats for male friends

A good friend of mines best male friends birthday was the other day.

She bought him lunch and brought him a birthday cake to his work ( hes a police officer) candles and all.

I thought it was a really really nice sentiment, and she was afraid she may have embarrased him.

would this sort of thing embarras you or would you like it if a friend did something nice like this for you?

Anxiety

some people don't like having attention called on them at work, but if it's a nice gesture, the guy can deal with it and enjoy his dang cake!

The second date I had with Ruby was his bday party. I had no idea what to get him so I baked him a cake and he loved it. He said it was the best gift he got because it was thoughful. All his friends thought so too, they were blown away because of a silly little cake. So tell your friend not to sweat it...it's a really nice gesture.

It's not corny, it's just thoughtful. Everyone deserves a cake on their birthday.

I think that was a thoughtful thing to do. He was stuck at work on his birthday and cops tend not to be the "sentimental" type, but I bet he was pleased and enjoyed it.

I think it depends on the setting, as well as on the individual...it feels different having attention given to you when you're at home or at a get-together with friends and family than it does when you're at work or in a restaurant (I for one am not too thrilled by having the entire waiting staff at the local mexican restaurant singing "Happy Birthday" in spanish...lol...I can live without it. smile )...I think we sometimes forget to see things thru the eyes of those we're doing something for...

I wouldn't worry too much about it, tho, if I were your friend...if this guy is a normal, decent man, then while he may have felt embarassed, he'll also feel appreciative.
