Can somebody please explain to me the super quick ending to the Matrix Revolutions?


I watched that movie again trying to understand it, and still don't get it.
THe film so supremely sucks that I couldn't even bare to remember any of it when I first saw it in the Theatre, but being that I owned the first 2 DVDs I broke down and completed my set.

What is the rainbow, and the city park, and the wierd ass conversation between the new and slimmed down Oracle with the Architect?

There's a very simple explanation:

Twelve words: The movie sucked and they had know clue how to end it?

The end of the movie was like Christ giving his life for the world. Neo saved everyone by his sacrifice. (He destroyed the bad virus). They put lots of that kind of cultural stuff into all the movies. Like the "ghosts" and "werewolves".

I think the entire series is the most overrated piece of would-be philosophical sci-fi trilogy tripe ever filmed. David Cronenberg's "ExistenZ" was substantially better...

Part 1 was fine with me. It had the surprise effect going for it. However, 2 + 3 are completely redundant. It's like an attempt to continue a joke after the punchline. Pointless and boring.

Actually, I think I'll have to watch them again. Just to see if they really were that bad as I remember them.

never bothered to watch this episode.....never understood the hype around The Matrix and I can't stand Keanu.....

The only decent one was the first one. The other two sucked bad. I saw all 3 and I still don't really know who "the one" is (and I don't care anymore either).

I have a real love/hate relationship with the second two Matrix movies.
Their main problem is that the Wachowski's crammed them so full of Philosophical
ideas and references that the main surface story suffered. The other thing was
that too many interesting info and plot points were relegated to other media,
like the 'Enter the Matrix' game and the 'Animatrix' shorts.

The first one had a perfect balance of plot and allegory, whereas in the second
two, these things seemed a lot clunkier. I loved disecting the movies and
unraveling all the meanings and references they contain, but this doesn't make
for a entertaining and cohesive movie experience for Joe Public.

As for the ending, I thought it was fairly self explanatory.
The rainbow was a symbol of peace and a new beginning, put there by Sati
(the little girl, who is a huge evolutionary step forward for the machines).
The discussion between The Oracle and The Architect was also pretty
straightforward, with them discussing how long this 'peace' would last.
