UNEMPLOYMENT SUCKS!!!! Before I moved back home, I was under the impression that there were at least a couple of places that wanted to hire me.
Seems I was mistaken So...anyone need a cook? I'm good, and I can work cheap

Yeah--I don't understand how the economy is "picking up". Everybody is still out of work or about to get laid off. JPMorganChase just fired 2000 people here in Tampa.

Ok...first of all...where the heck have you been? Secondly...have you tried any employment or temp agencies? They usually pay pretty good and sometimes the jobs end up in something permanent or at least long-term

Seems I was mistaken So...anyone need a cook? I'm good, and I can work cheap I feel ya, Nikster. I've been unemployed for going on 6 months now, and it sucks!!!!! What's worse is having friends and family acting surprised when I tell them that I haven't found a job yet. Duhhhh!!! Now I find myself getting pissed at people making that comment. I tell them, "Well, I've signed up with job agencies, I look online and send out resumes every week. I don't know what else I'm supposed to be doing in order to find a job." When I say that, that usually shuts people up, they have no answer when I tell them that. People can be such dickheads sometimes, and the comment, "I'm surprised you haven't found a job yet", does not help matters one bit, it only makes the unemployed person feel like shit. Keep your head up, I know how frustrating it can be trying to find a job. I'm sure you will find something that will be a good fit for you. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

That's for damn sure! Now when I hear the comment about the economy "getting better", I just discredit it. My attitude has become, "I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, that comment is a bullshit lie." RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

That depends on the area in which you live. I have signed up with MANY employment and temp agencies, and I don't hear from MANY of them, only one or two who bother to contact me. When I call them, they tell me, "It's still been slow here, but we will call you when something comes in" (famous last words). You have to be careful which employment/temp agencies you chose, there are some out there that are no good. I have had run-in with several agencies that were just terrible, and I made sure that I let the managers of that agency know. There still are some good employment temp/agencies out there, they just seem to be harder to find for some dumb reason. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Nik!
Nice to see around-hang in there. Just keep looking out there, definitely try the temp agency/staffing service angle as suggested and just don't let yourself feel too discouraged. Sometimes it just takes longer than you'd ever really like for things to happen. ...but they do.
