Computery people help me please. :( I wasn't made for these times. I've bought a cable which the guy at the technology shop said would connect my stereo system to my computer. My computer speakers are proper Friar Tucked and now sound like a SETI scan of the empty, empty stars swirling around us. Especially hip-hop and dub.
So when I plugged the end with two outlets (red and black) into my stereo at the bits which look right (and by now I've tried them all) and connected the other single outlet to my computer where the other speaker socket was - I heard the music play through my stereo - but VERY, VERY quietly. You'll understand my frustration. I've checked the speakers volume level on my computer and it's up full. The connection is obviously being make, but I'm having to turn my stereo up full and I'm still hearing very little. So please help. I don't know who else to turn to.

do you have a "aux" input on your reciever?.. or a "video" input on the back?..try selecting that..what its doing is, not pushing a full signal through the input/output

I've tried sticking the thing in every hole in this room except for my ass. The connection's still not happening. Thanks for replying, anyhow.

OK...I have my puter connected to my stereo..My set up is as follows...
I have an Imic USB'd into the back of my computer. It has to outputs in the form of headphone jacks. There is a part included that has a headphone jack output on one end and a av output on the other (a red and a white stereo output similar to an av (or coaxial) cable) it looks like the end of the regular cord you normally would connect components to your stereo receiver). The headphone jack side pops into the speaker output on the Imic and you connect a regular av (red and white…or blue and white..or whatever combo). Cord to the av output on the Imic and the other end into an open port on your receiver. If you have a separate receiver plug it into an open port…keeping the colors matched. Or into the AUX if you have an all-in-one stereo. Turn on stereo and select the input you connected it to. Restart you puter to make sure Imic get recognized (I found that one USB port works better than the other one for some reason) The set up is.. Computer - Imic USB component - Imic AV input (plugged into the Imic OUTPUT jack) - Stereo OK that’s if you have an IMic…which is the easiest way to do it IMO. Now a few things you need to know. The Imic has it’s own volume controls that are not as dynamic as the internal soundcard…but very functional. Volume is GOING TO BE a little low. It just is. Try setting the volume of the Imic or your music player or your stereo. If you don’t have an IMic…the set up should be slightly the same The set up is.. Have you checked your volume controls? From the start menu, choose Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices Then click on the Advanced button, Click Options, then Properties Make sure all the items listed there are checked and hit OK And look at each one, and check to see of the one you are trying to use is muted or the volume set real low.
