Favorite line from a song -EVER- and why?

snowflake

what is your favorite ever lyrics from a song? and explain why
you think that it's such a great line.

mine is one that's continued to pop into my head obsessively at
one or two day intervals ever since the song was first released
over 10 years ago

eek

it's from Sheryl Crow's "Run Baby Run" and it's the following:

"she was born in november, 1963, the day Aldous Huxley died"

Now, what's so cool about this line is that Aldous Huxley,
the famous writer of a.o. "Brave New World" died on nov 22
1963 -the day John F Kennedy was shot.

In a way, the death of Huxley went, through the other tragic
events that day, largely unnoticed.

I just thought that was a very quirky fact and somehow it can
give the song a double meaning.

either just the statement that she was born on the day that
Huxley died, and thus the rest of the song follows that kind
of path from the perspective of Huxley.

Or, the pun is that it's the day Kennedy died as well and
thus the rest of the song follows on that course with the
advise the father gives being influenced by what happened
that day his daughter was born.

confused

my head hurts now.

But the question remains a simple one, just tell me what
your favorit line out of all lyrics from all the songs you
ever heard is. and why

biggrin

why can't I ever just keep things short and simple? I should
see a shrink about this rambling. or perhaps co-star in an
episode of Ellen. yeah, I'm sure I could drive even her nuts
with my ramblings and off couar odjhfaskdjhasdhk fh

oooh just forget it

"There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in."

-Leonard Cohen, Anthem

When you start to take things too seriously or things feel like they're impossible or too much, this really keeps things in perspective.

No matter how dark things may seem, the light's still out there.

You know it couldn't be just one biggrin

“In every man’s life there will be a hang-up, a whirlwind designed to slow you down. It cuts like a knife, it tries to get in you…this spooky electric sound. Give up if you want to and all is lost, Spooky Electric will be your boss………….Don’t kiss the beast, be superior at least”

"Your scrapbook's filled with pictures of all your leading men
Well, baby, don't put my picture in there with them"
- Bruce Springsteen ("Be True").

Why? This is a song about casting aside romantic notions and learning that a healthy relationship is not about living up to an impossible ideal set by movies, TV and popular song. Good advice.

"And I dream of running.
And in the dream I myself can run.
And I feel the ground beneath my feet.
And I move like music.....you move me like music"

What does it feel like to be music? The power of love can reveal this. A pure testament to the power of the spirit mushy

I love that line too nod

my favourite Prince line, tho, is "so this is where you end...and you and I begin" mushy I think it's beautiful...

My favourite line of all, tho, is a non-Prince line...it's from a Kiss Song called "I walk alone"

"And I look deep inside of me
There's a place but it's not plain to see
where I belong where no one else can be"

that whole song is incredible. the lyrics and the music
work so well together. "desperation" is the right word
for it indeed. I love all the lyrics there.
