Men or women: who is more likely to commit adultery

What u reckon?

Men get a hard time on this more then women. Plus would it be wrong to say that men have a harder time pleasing women in bed then vice versa?..... So woman wonders off so to speak.

Tough question huh?

I commited adultery but had nothing to do with sex...

i simply fell in love with someone else and i knew i loved them before we even went to bed together

my husband and I didn't talk unless we argued and the other person made me feel special, wonderful, appreciated and sexy.

so I think for women anyway adultery is less a sexual act than an emotional one.

well for me, i shouldn't generalise

Your question is "who is MORE LIKELY to commit adultery", right? Of course women do it too, but men are more likely to do it. Monogamous men aren't a dime a dozen lol Women are more likely than men to think w/ their heads & hearts vs. their pussies.

Of course none of this is absolute, so let's avoid the nitpicky responses hammer

And I agree, men do get a bad rap. Blame the men who've fucked it up for the rest of y'all neutral

Heavenly

Well, I don't think I will ever commit adultery, so in my case, it's either no adultery, or the woman, which I hope it's the first choice.

i would say that on a physical level, men are more likely to cheat just to get to the sex part. HOWEVER, that is not as dangerous to the relationship i dont think as when a woman cheats... because women are more likely to actually be 'involved' with the person they are cheating with, in a more emotional way... which means the relationship is waaaaay over for them.

well in my opinion i feel that men are most likely to cheat because as most women feel, that men only think with their second head. I do think that it is also split with that thought and the fact that there may something wrong with his relationship for him to stray, whether it sexual needs or emotional needs.

Sometimes men cheat just because they feel they can. For some its a game of how many women am I able to cheat on and for others its "let me see how gullible she is" type game. I really hate guys like these...

I do believe however that there are monogamous men out here who do not cheat, unfortunately, these are the ones who get cheated on by women.

I can honestly say that I almost cheated on my very first boyfriend while he was away overseas, but it was because I had feelings for another guy. I later re-evaluated my feelings and decided that it wasn't the right thing to do, and just remained friends with the guy i was starting to fall for, because what goes around comes around. And eventually me and my boyfriend ended up breaking up because of all the flaws in our relationship.

Lord have mercy, let's just bury this topic. There's no way to prove what somebody is likely to do. One can only provide conjecture based on your own personal experiences. Let just say this:

Women will say: Men are more likely to cheat. Women cheat too, but only when the relationship is emotionally over.
Men will say: Women are more likely to cheat. They just hide it better.

This one, in just one word, sums up my answer.

I say this because of what a close friend (female) and I discussed some time ago. She was telling me about how much men get a bad rap for cheating (yes fellas, there are open-minded and realistic women out there, actually. Grab them before the last few are gone). As RipHer2Shreds mentioned, women hide it better. SO, because they know it can/will happen, they look for it to and sometimes find out that something is going on. Men, on the other hand, aren't thinking that they're lady (and I do use that VERY loosely) will do that so they don't look into it at all. Anyway, my friend was saying how, when all her girls got together, they would make they're calls to their "others" (not the husbands) and leave to do some flagrante dilecto since they already got a hall pass to be out with the girls.

All in all, the answer, I have always believed is that both are likely. One no more than the other, just for different reasons, I guess. Either way it's fucked up. confused

Women have the better advantage in cheating because it's easier for them to get a man's attention with sexy come-ons and flirtting. I about 90% of cases (MHO), men have to pay for it regardless of how smooth or coniving they are but women are said to be more discreet and quiet about their dirty deeds. Women rule in this arena only because they have the final say as to who comes between their legs. omg nod

The definition of adultery is:

Adultery:
Main Entry: adul•tery
Pronunciation: &-'d&l-t(&-)rE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -ter•ies
Etymology: Middle English, alteration of avoutrie, from Middle French, from Latin adulterium, from adulter adulterer, back-formation from adulterare
: voluntary sexual intercourse between a married man and someone other than his wife or between a married woman and someone other than her husband; also : an act of adultery.

So by definition wouldn't it be equally? Every time a person, man or woman, cheats on their spouse, the person they are commiting adultery with is also commiting adultery.

In my lifetime I've known way more women than men who have become emotionally involved with someone else if not physically cheated on them...and some of them are the least people you'd think would do that kind of thing. My Mum was one of them on both my Dad and my stepdad

The last study I saw on this topic said that men cheat more frequently, but women are closing the gap--it was 60% of men and 40% of women who cheated, according to that study.

I'm sticking w/ my answer - MEN lol

I think you misunderstood the point of my answer - men will say women cheat more and women will say men cheat more. I think most answers here support that theory. I don't know who actually does, and frankly, I don't care.

And how would anyone know for sure? You think anyone that answers the question is going to answer completely honestly, even when questioned in a safe environment? No, they're not. So the only logical way to know for sure whether or not somebody is LIKELY to cheat is to see if they actually DO cheat. That would mean following them around 24/7 for months and years on end. I don't know that anyone's ever done that.

And like Sowhat pointed out, it takes two people to commit adultery. If we're talking strictly hetero relationships here, that would mean both men and women are commiting adultery at an equal rate.

all i know is that ive never cheated on any woman ive been with, yet all but a couple have cheated on me. ive become pretty jaded about women. i think they act innocent, and say they want a nice guy, but thats bullshit. a dude who treats women like shit is way more likely to have girls throwing themselves at him than a guy who is respectful. you can argue that, but if youre honest youll see what im saying is true. everyone knows several girls who are with some dickhead who is rude to her, cheats on her and is just a general prick, yet she wont leave him to save her life. by the same token, all the women who have nice guys have no respect for them. they somehow perceive it as weekness, and run around on him. women are just better at hiding their infidelities.
In my own way, I am the king. Hail to the king, baby!! chainsaw
