why are people so anxious to shovel snow? every year you hear about it when we get a big snow storm people rush out and have to shovel and end up dying because they are out of shape.. in fact the last snow we had 3 people died and 2 of those people were using snow blowers! (now thats out of shape) after that last snow we had we had a warm spell and in within a week it was all melted anyway..so why bother! Check it out ...Shiny Toy Guns R gonna blowup VERY soon and bring melody back to music..you heard it here 1st! http://www.myspacecomment...theone.mp3

geez, you'd have to be really badly out of shape to die from
using a snowblower. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

The thing is, I remember when we lived in the USA, it was Law, that everyone had 2 shovel their driveways, pathways and sidewalks otherwise they would b liable for injuries caused by accidents and they could b sued for millions if an accident resulted in permanent injury or even death!! So people have 2 b quick with the snow shovelling even if a warm spell comes and melts it all away!!

Well, we got 15 cm (5,9 inch) of snow in two days so it was best to showel it off if one wanted to drive somewhere.
And I haven't seen any snow blowers around here. [Edited 1/22/05 7:56am] Time flies like an arrow

Ex-Moderator | Cause it's a pain in the ass to have to walk through a foot of snow to get to the store or to your car or wherever you may be going. And it can be quite dangerous.
I was quite pleasantly surprised to find my upstairs neighbor had already shoveled all the walks for my building this morning so I had a clear path to the sidewalk. Unfortunately, most of the rest of my neighbors didn't and I did have to trudge through a foot of snow for the rest of the block and a half walk to my car. |

we got 14 inches last week, and i was sick when it happened, so the only thing that got shoveled was my front steps and around my car so i could drive over the snow. i never did get the sidewalk shoveled off . . .

I think people get obsessive about it. A lot of times it's to be a good neighbor and help those walking past get through. I used to live in an apt. surrounded by many other apts. NO ONE SHOVELED...so I had to walk in the street just to get around. Christian Zombie Vampires

I'm almost always good about shoveling. I think I remember my days of walking/bussing too well and I hated walking through the snow and ice leftovers from people who don't shovel. Shoveling early (or twice in one storm) also makes it easier as you are shoveling less at a time and getting the snow up before it's packed into the sidewalk by pedestrains.
Plus, it's true, you can be ticketed for not shoveling in a timely manner in most cities. Lastly, I like being a good neighbor. Since we've bought a house, I feel obligated to keep up on these things. course, ALL of that can be forgotten if I'm uber hung-over after a snowfall.

You do wanna get out there before it's too much to shovel. I remember as a kid haveing to do that. I just haven't shoveled snow in a while. Christian Zombie Vampires

That's nothing, my neighbours have to shovel empty beer cans just to get to their cars. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.
