Thank you all for the compliments. Yes, my father is very talented. I'm very proud of him as a photographer.
He used to work for the national TV station, which was the only tv station until mid 80s, as a stills photographer. Also for for newspapers. in the late 80s he tought photography for a few years. he did a couple of series of postcards that he's selling to tourist groups that he's working with these days. I now live in what used to be his photography studio. dark room and all He still has all the developing equipment, though it's just sitting there collecting dust.

I think that once I move to the US, my dad might recreate the studio, and maybe build the dark room again. I'm hoping he'd go learn how to work with a digital camera, because it's way different than film. the colors turn quite different and it would be nice if he'd join technology and add that to his art too. I'm leaving him my computer, with photoshop, a scanner, and a big monitor. hopefully he's use it.

There are some camera companies that have discontinued making 35mm cameras, and only make digital ones now...Photoshop is the new darkroom.

I enjoy the immediacy of digital, of course...and I haven't had a photo screwed up because of mistakes in developing the negatives or waterspots because of improper drying...and my hands don't smell like chemicals afterwards..lol Of the seven photos I posted up above, only one was taken with a digital. The others were taken with my ancient Pentax K1000... [Edited 1/24/05 20:15pm]

What kind of Digital camera do you use? My first one was a Sony Mavica FD-71, with a floppy disc. My brother loved the quality so much, he bought the Sony Mavcia CD-300, my mother loved the quality of his Mavica she bought the CD-500 so we're the Mavica family We really love the colors it brings, especially with the Carl Zeiss lenses. I bought a new camera lately, but a cheap one, just because it was time to put the FD-71 to rest (the floppy disc was not working well anymore, and was just too slow). But when I get to the US, I'm hoping to save up for a digital SLR camera.

It's a great camera, tho...I haven't even begun to use it to its fullest. I've never heard of Mavica.. I might have to look into one now that it comes to highly recommended..lol

Mine was on a regular floppy disk. my brother's and mother's are on a 3 inch CDs. All drives were inside the camera! So it's great. The CDs can hold around 150 photos in good quality. But, that was only the reason I bought it, only after, I realized how great the quality is. It's a little posterized, colors are strong, but not in a bad way. It usually compliments the photo. Yes, the interchangeable lenses is my next step. Though the professional SLR camera don't have a preview screen. They're just like old times

They're just like old times MG, there will be an entire generation of photographers who don't know what it's like to get an instant preview of the photo they just took..lol..."Why, when I was a kid, you had to actually wait to develope your negative, uphill, in the snow...dry them, then make contact sheets before even slightly getting an idea what your photos looked like!!" That's scary...
