Rest assure, I used my zoom to full capacity... which is not too strong. It looks closer than it actually was. Plus my friend and I were on top of a rock... ready to run. Beautiful creatures, nonetheless... most are not aggressive for the most part... it's a blessing they have such a wonderful warning mechanism, thank goodness. Growing up... we used to find them in our yard often. We grew up in the middle of the desert... and my dad would never kill one. So I use to help him obtain them into something secure... and we would take them to the river and release them. It is against the law to kill rattesnakes, by the way... and I would never dream of doing so anyhow. By the way... where did you hike, what area... I am curious. ~Hugs.

You live near such an amazingly beautiful environment Julie. Those pictures are wonderful I love looking through the picture threads you put up You're always so occupied, full of life and vibrancy, even though it makes my life style look like that of a lazy biscuit Your talent with the camera just adds an artistic bonus to your threads too. Thanks for the insight once again Julie "..My work is personal, I'm a working person, I put in work, I work with purpose.."

By the way... where did you hike, what area... I am curious. i would have to ask my father... lol my parents have spent the last 13 winters there. Dad walks with one hiking group and leads another. He has kept a journal of every hike they have gone on including the weather and who came out that day. lol, a side of my father i didn't see growing up. i couldn't tell you the area exactly, just remember you could see superstition like in your photo. and we have rattlers here too, but you never see them. all snakes are helpful to farmers in catching rodents so no one kills them here either.
