It's NOT funny by any stretch of the imagination. No matter how you try to interpret it. It's largely poking fun at the victims, not the celebrities who gave money.

I said this on the music board befor ethe thread was closed:

"I thought it was kind of funny... I guess you can't say something like that without exlaining yourself:

It's not like they caused the tsunami, it happened. Joking about it didn't kill anyone neither will it bring someone back. So what's the big deal? no harm no foul."

I just want to clarify. I think it's funny because it's a parody of those phony ass celebrity benefits. Let's face it people are still starving in Africa, genocides occurred after the "We are the World" and "Live Aid" shams. I think they were more about the artists getting face time and saying "look at me, I'm a caring" person to win more fans than actually helping people. maybe I'm looking at it wrong. I don't think death is funny, children losing their parents is definitely nothing to laugh at. The sad part is a lot of the orphans are probably going to be forced in to the human sex slave trade or prostitution. It's a difficult, emotional situation all around because it's senseless too and destroyed so many futures but I still think the song was kind of funny. My more cynical side will probably say people who think it's nothing to laugh at suffer from the same disorder that a lot of the artists who contributed to those benefits I named earlier... (wait, I just typed that last sentence to start a debate. That wasn't right, sorry.)

-----
Nothing is funny about the song. I am sorry you have the time to sit around being cynical and you think all of the charity efforts are for celebrity face time. My question to you would be have you donated money or time to help?
Because it is so much easier to be a help than to stand around critzing and laughing at other people's efforts.

Wasn't Star and Buckwild on this station also. I remember them making fun of Aaliyah's plane crash. Anywayz, calling the tsumani victims the "C" word is so racist. What if a disaster happened in Africa and someone was throwing the "N" word around on the radio? This kinda of crap irks me.
Thank You San Alejo for getting rid of my enemies. :-0
Thank You SO much Saint Expedite for your help smile
Thank You Virgin de Guadalupe for helping my friend smile
Thank You Saint Anthony for returning my wallet to me untouched smile

See, this is why you have to be so careful when listening to the radio. Some of it can be so offensive. Especially the morning shows...I find myself avoiding them nowadays.

Thank God for my one local station which only plays the news, traffic & weather in the morning...I pretty much stick to that biggrin

I also wonder if the people who wrote this song saw any of the news reports about the orphans who actually lost their parents during the tsunami, and did they feel anything?

This is their weak ass apology:

OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON AIRING OF TSUNAMI PARODY SONG
HOT97 regrets the airing of material that made light of a serious and tragic event. We apologize to our listeners and anyone who was offended.

Both HOT97's program director and Miss Jones issued on-air apologies on Monday stating that the material was offensive and should not have been aired.

HOT97 takes pride in its community involvement and in the last few weeks has joined with broadcasters nationwide to raise money for victims of the Tsunami. Our relief effort will result in a substantial cash donation.

Jones and her team were suspended indefinitely, according to publicist Lizzie Grubman, who declined to say whether Jones would feature in another show at a later date.

Her publicist is Lizzie Grubman?
