Trailers can make virtually any movie look great...they even made The Hulk look bearable...

Shit, the trailer made that movie look badass, instead of the snooze-fest it was.

I'm still not looking forward to this movie...
Incorporating Victor Von Doom in with the origin of The Four is just bad storytelling and the movie already deserves a few knocks for that.
I realize that the argument can be made that the movie has only so much time in which to tell a story...that's fine...but, I'm quite sure they could've fit a few extra minutes in to give a better backstory for Doom.

I agree. While it IS based on a comic version of the FF, I think it still could have been done better. Still, as I said before, I care more about whether or not his character is right. The jury will be out on that until July.

And, once again, I will go on record as saying that I don't like Jessica Alba as Sue...Sue is the ultimate MILF and not a model (like Mary Jane Watson is supposed to be, but isn't in the movies). I haven't given any thought as to who would make a better Sue...so, I can't offer anything there.

I know nothing about Alba, so I really cannot comment.

I do disagree that Sue should be the ultimate MILF, at least as far as an origin story goes. That is certainly what she is in the comics NOW, but not what she was in the original stories that this film is based on. Maybe she will progress into that over the course of sequels?

The rest of the cast are a bunch of no-names that I can give no opinion about because I don't know their previous works...I only recognize Michael Chiklets (or whatever the fuck his name is), cuz I've seen his name in voice credits on The Family Guy.

They couldn't have cast a better Ben Grimm. As for the rest, I don't know them either (although a friend of mine raves that the guy playing Doom is perfect for the part).

The special effects look better than what they butchered The Hulk with. Perhaps they learned a lesson from that and hired someone who isn't on "Crazy" George Lucas' payroll.

It sure looks a helluva lot better than Hulk

Oh...and btw...when Daredevil came out, everyone seemed to love it...now everyone hates it. Even Entertainment Weekly (a magazine I used to regularly agree with, now I'm not so sure) went and changed its collective mind. That's just bullshit. I thought it was a very good movie and it's obvious that the whole cast worked incredibly hard to make it that way...especially Ben. He worked with a blind actor daily to get the nuances down...on top of all the physical work he had to do underneath a bunch of leather.
I concur that this sudden negative backlash is just more Ben-hating crap...to which all I can say is, get off it already.

Totally NAILED it, my friend. I think the whole backlash against the film comes in the wake of the Bennifer shit. Now, every film Affleck has ever done has been retroactively declared shit. Personally, I'd love to see a DD sequel.

And...I'm done...

I have a bootleg copy of the old Fantastic Four movie that they made in the early 90s. It's really terrible--almost as bad as that Captain America movie with Matt Salinger.

Its pretty craptacular (and a great example of how you can have a comic movie that sticks to the source material, gets the costumes right, and STILL sucks the big one)!

Well, I think it will be worth the price of admission alone to see Ms. Alba in a skin-tight blue costume. Mmm, mmm, mmm.

Everything else we be considered after I get enough of that.

Then again... can anyone ever get enough of that?

Mmmmhhhh, Jessica Alba and Angelina Jolie...

Well, Halle Berry wasn't very good casting, but otherwise it was good.

Chiklis is perfect for The Thing, you must admit!

I totally agree. I realise they are basing it on Jack Kirby's original design from FF #1, but I would prefer the look we all gre up with. Still, Chicklis as an actor is dead-on.
