Boxing Fans!!

Ken Burns' Documentary on the prowess and exploits of legendary Heavyweight Champion "JACK JOHNSON" will air its second part this evening on your local PBS station.

I'm a boxing fan nod

I've seem documentaries on Jack Johnson before. He knew how to live it large man (and deservedly so!), esp. considering the times around his era.

Damn! I forgot all about this. sad I am a boxing fan (do check out Million Dollar Baby!), but haven't followed anything in recent years. Johnson's is an interestnig story from what I've heard, and I regret having missed it. Hopefully it'll be replayed.

I saw the film last week and it was truely well done. He lived a truely eventful life in what was undoubtably the worst period to be an African-American during the 20 the century in the States. He ran his own show and didnt allow anyone to define him as a man. You gotta take your hat off to him. Its ironic that he ended up dying in a car accident while racing along the interstate, something that he loved to do.
