IQ's or Intelligence Quotients, are variable depending on the day and your mindset , breakfast/bloodsugar etc, as with SAT's, but typically are within 10 points +/- an accurate showing. They are decided upon by taking your cognitive abilities in various areas and comparing them to the rest of the population (as an adult, as children they compare them to others the same age etc) Therefore 90-110 is "average" in that 100 would be...100% of the average, and the range is always +/- 10 points. Under 70 is considered mentally deficient("retarded") and some have as low as 20 and 30, though they aren't functional without 24 hours care...like a 2 or 3 year old. Example...you score a 120. Your intelligence is about 110-130% of that of the "average" adult (or say you were 10 at the time...your intelligence is about that of an "average" 11-13 yr old rather than the "average" 10 yr old) generally 140 and up is considered "genius" though intelligence varies in many aspects. IQ tests are specifically designed to not measure knowledge, but the ability to think...intelligence does not equate to knowledge, opportunity is most often directly related to knowledge. See: idiot savants. Functionality in society is rarely directly related to IQ. That is more of a personality thing...and actually the higher the IQ the more likely one is to be "eccentric" or slightly "crazy"...lol. Curiously, it has also been found that the percentage of agnostics and atheist rises significantly as teh IQ rises above the "genius" cutoff of 140, and raises more as teh numbers raise. This is true as i said of certain social and psychological "disorders" including antisocial, OCD, schizophrenia, serial killing, etc. Why this is, I do not know. But it holds true for myself
