HELP! My son needs to be potty trained!

Erick keeps taking off his diaper, so I'm guessing now is the time to start potty training him, but...I"M SCARED!!!

I don't want to....I don't know how bawl

Besides, when my aunt started potty training her two year old, and it took a WHOLE YEAR, I talked about her eek and they say boys are harder than girls

Any pointers???

Smooches;)

Exactly.....Well, my little cousin is a stubborn little heffa and wouldn't sit on a toilet to save her life, but now she is 3 and she is finally trained.

But wouldn't it be just my luck that erick would be harder to train just because of how badly I talked about my aunt lol

It's really not that bad!

You need to pick a time when you can devote yourself to staying not far from the house, believe me it's easier that way,

I spent a week just potty training both of my kids and it worked like a dream, I took them to go and pick there own and made a huge deal of buying proper pants and turned it into a game....

if they went on the potty they got a sticker once they got 5 stickers they could pick a new book/magazine/toy worked wonderful nod

katt

just dont tell him there is a toilet monster like my other half did, if u do then he will never use the toilet giggle

Let him run around with no nappy (diaper on)
Leave the potty around, sit him on it when he gets up and the last thing at night, also put him on it another 3 times in the day, make it fun, then he will go over and sit when he wants 2.
Take him to the toilet with you and get one of those toilet seats and after ur done sit him on it, 2 incourage take a book in and read it to him.

Always make it fun they will do it in there own time.

This is what my mum taught me and it worked for my children.... goodluck smile

i potty trained my daughter when she was 2 and my son when he was 3 because he showed no interest until then and there is no point doing it till they are ready cause it won't work!

You should let him make some poo art. It'll help him to express what he's feeling inside. nod

True, some would say that erick is still too young (Like his doctor), but family members are all saying that I should atleast try. He'll be 2 in March, but I kinda think he's ready

Or, you could put out a mat and everytime he decides not to go on the mat, roll up some newspaper and give him a little whack on the nose and say "No! Bad!". When he DOES do #2 on the mat, you could reward him with some sorty of squeaky toy. nod

you can try he will let you know if it's the right time, thing is never get mad, accidents happen and if after a week he is not using the potty more than he is using it he isn't ready, the bladder and the control mechanisms for it are complex and you just have to wait till they are physically able to control there bodily functions usually it happens between the ages of 18 months and 3 and a half but every child is different smile

goodluck anyway

but really it isn't so bad, with my first i was dreading it but i found it easier than i expected. be positive and the child will be (hopefully)

Good luck with this! He may just suprise you and it may not be that difficult at all!

I did find that for my son... that little guard they have in the front of the potty.. you may want to remove it. He kept hurting his pee-thing on it. neutral

Make a game of it! razz
Tear up little peices of paper and place them in the toilet bowl. Tell him they are battle ships and he needs to sink them all. This way he'll take more care with his aim and he'll enjoy the experiance everytime.

How about using Cheerios? They're probably better for the plumbing. They could be little imaginary people in lifejackets.
