Anyways. Here goes.

I just worked at my previous job for a week, when one of my colleagues turns around, looks at me and says; "Do you always talk this much?"

And instead of feeling really flustered, I just smiled, I said; "Yes, actually I do. Is that a problem?"

She looked at me and just matter of fact stated; "No, but then I will have a tendency not to listen to you all of the time, if you don't mind."

So. Guess who was most heart-broken when i had to leave? This girl; we had become best friends.

My point? I know I talk too much, especially when nervous (which was the case, working for the first time in over a year). So even though I could have taken the remark as an insult, I did not.

Next time, when encountering stupidity, esp after a remark like "Thats so queer", just turn and say "Yes dear, but at least I am not stupid."

I know you probably think that I'm making this up but I really do scream at strangers for their blatant stupidity. Most people are just too shocked to say or do anything and the five seconds (or so) of shock gives me more than enough time to slip away. Ha! Ha!

(pictures you screaming at random strangers...arrghh) falloff

But you have a point there. If you get a real good one in there...it takes them by surprise. And really what can they say? They are in their frame of mind not even thinking that anyone is hearing them. Most likely they will have no comeback and will remember it for a long time. Or at least keep their opinions to themselves.

I don't let words bother me. Cuz that's how i was raised. But one night at work, these 3 gay guys were in my line, and the guy next to me was joking around with one of his friends and said "you pussy ass faggot!!" and the fucking music stopped and time slowed the fuck down. I mean, i don't let words bother me, but don't disrespect my sisters. I don't play that shit. I fucking hate rudeness and there's NO excuse for it.

It would be one thing for them to simply turn around and say directly to you, "wow, you're gay". But for them to beat around the bush like that with their thinly veiled innuendos, they're also calling you stupid.

There's no sense in letting that grind on your nerves all day. Next time someone does that, confront them directly about it. Like someone else mentioned on here, more than likely, they'll keep their remarks to themselves in the future.

yep it sure is nod

stupid! just stupid people. don't let them get you down. I always take the high road when confronted with ignorance. I shake my head and look at them like the imbeciles they are and just know that ignorance is bliss. IF they have any sense at all they are insulted by the look of obvious pity on my face.
I have been directly approached about my husband and our races--I mean some guy actually walked up to me- after my hubby had walked away- and asked me how could I? I just smiled and said How could I not, turned and walked away shaking my head, he stood there for a minute before he got it. Just Stupid!

Oh, that pisses me off to no end. mad or the lame "Some of my best friend are black." rolleyes Save it, please! I had to deal with this type of B.S. just for dating outside of my race, and if I wasn't a strong individual, it would have driven me over the edge.
Besides racist and homophobic attitudes are taught. You're not born with those type of ideals or lack thereof.
