TOO OLD TO BE A MOTHER? Woman of 66 gives birth to a girl So what do you think?
There is an argument going on right now, that she is too old and this isnt fair to her daughter, as her Mother will die when she is still a young girl. [Edited 1/18/05 4:34am] I think she is too old and has put her own feelings and desires above that of her child, which makes her a selfish and therefore bad mother. I don't criticise her for wanting children, that is a natural feeling, but sometimes you just have to let your head over-rule your gut feeling | |

But she is a woman and surely its her right to have her own baby, no matter her age. She is single, but thats not a criticism towards single parents, just that when she dies or is too old and frail to look after her daughter, who then will mind her child? Her child won't have the normal mother/daughter relationship.. she will not see her daughter through to adulthood, wont be able to support her in bad times.. her daughter will probably be laughed at, at school for having a mother old enough to be a grandmother.. or even great grandmother - her daughter will lose her mother at a very early age. These are some of the arguments being raised. | |

I think it's rather selfish
That is too old. To put a child through a almost certain death that mum will die when a teen is very cruel. Who did it with her anyway? wheres the father? | |

No, I disagree..Why does she have a divine right to have a baby regardless of the circumstances and the implications? What about the baby's rights? | |

If this happens, then ppl of 70 will have kids too.. and again it will all get out of hand.. mind you people could be accused of being ageist, and it is her body after all.. but they should allow IVF to people so old.. she should have had her baby many many years ago.. and let those who can be good parents have that treatment instead. Its a bit sick IMO.. and OMG that pic of her freaks me out.. she is soo scary!

I just dont think its a good idea  when the kid is 18 she will be 84, im almost 25 and my grandma is 79.
BUT who am I to say that she isnt going to have a good life or have loving memories of her mother. there are many other younger parents bringing kids into this world in worse conditions | |

Having children is the most beautiful thing in the world, however.....you have to wonder how her doctors can justify aiding her in this endeavor. | |
