Somebody please tell me that this is a joke http://www.bonsaikitten.com/
If this is true I'm going to be sick... I posted the intro, there are pics on the site if you wanna look. Introduction For centuries, people in the West have marveled at the delicate beauty produced by Oriental artists and sculptors. From gardening to tattooing to dance and martial arts, these craftsmen have enthralled us with complex forms and simplistic perfection. One of the most fascinating of the visual techniques to emerge from this highly cultured region is the Oriental art of miniature sculpture. Who has not been stricken with the expressive grace of Japanese Bonsai? Though once the sole province of Bonsai masters within Japan, Bonsai plants have been available to fortunate consumers throughout the world for some time. With this in mind, we are proud to now offer to you the animal complement of this art form; the Bonsai Kitten. Central Principles A bonsai plant, along with its more widely encountered counterpart the topiary garden, achieves its miniature yet mature form through a long and delicate process of trimming during the formative years of the tree. It is not possible to trim a kitten! However, fortunately the Oriental artists of yore were also expert in the modification of animal forms. Both foot-binding and head-binding were practiced in the Far East, for the purpose of miniaturizing the feet and shaping the head into attractive shapes. This technique is also the principle behind the well-known corset, which is regaining popularity in recent years. By physically constraining the growth of a developing living thing, it can be directed to take the shape of the vessel that constrains it. Just as a topiary gardener produces bushes that take the forms of animals or any other thing, you no longer need be satisfied with a housepet having the same mundane shape as all other members of its species. With Bonsai Kitten, a world of variation awaits you, limited only by your own imagination. [Edited 1/14/05 9:01am]

Snopes to the rescue! It's fake
Origins: Bonsai kittens are not real. Nobody is making bonsai kittens. Nobody is selling equipment to help people make bonsai kittens. The Bonsai Kitten web site is a joke, not an actual promotion for the making of bonsai kittens. Investigations by law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, have already determined no real cats were harmed in the creation of the pictures used on the Bonsai Kitten web site. Signing a petition to shut down the Bonsai Kitten web site will not prevent any kittens from being harmed, because no kittens were harmed in the first place. It was all a joke, one which some say was in terribly poor taste. If that was your reaction, take comfort in the knowledge that many others thought the same. How could you have known the Bonsai Kitten site was a satire despite its lack of "This is a joke!" banners emblazoned across it? Satire doesn't always announce itself as such (some feel that would ruin its humor), so in cases like this, one dusts off the common sense and aims it at the problem: The process described is impossible -- animals so treated would die long before they could be "molded." The web site offers no way to purchase the materials advertised -- a real commercial enterprise wouldn't build consumer interest through a flashy web site then fail to offer anything for sale. "Bonsai Kitten" displays no actual pictures of the finished product -- there are no molded kittens on display.

No...they don't stuff kittens in a bottle to stunt their growth.
However...they DO stick those cute little kittens in a pot of boiling water, and before they die from shock are skinned alive, then stuck back in the pot and cooked to perfection. I saw it myself on TV and almost puked. Check it out for yourself; http://www.messybeast.com/eat-cats.htm By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

the email may have been a hoax, but it does go on apparently
there are many practices that go on in Japan and China that are "tradition" and other names to disguise the fact that it is just plain fucking sick I know people who've been there (and others who have either been there or know people who have will have no doubt heard similar stories) and they've told about what they saw with thier very own eyes happens over there
