The main ingredients are (someone was asking before): Malt Vinegar, Tomatoes, Molasses, Spirit Vinegar, Dates, Glucose Syrup, Sugar, Salt, Modified Starch, Rye Flour, Tamarind Extract, Spices and Onion Extract. Until you've tasted a Bacon sandwich on thick white bread with HP Sauce, i'm afraid you haven't lived! (apologies to any vegetarians/vegans!) That sounds sooooo good! I bet it's great on fried potatoes! Actually, it sounds like a really good barbeque sauce. [Edited 1/14/05 6:27am] yeah, it's great, but it's NOT QUITE a barbecue sauce....it's spicier and less sweet. but all in all, a great sauce. i think it's so funny how involved we all get on topics like sauce.

I just had HP sauce on a bacon sandwich!! it's YUMMY!!!!! it is hard to describe what it tastes like tho, isn't it? kinda like a cross between a tomato/sweet chili sauce with a dash of the bbq sauce...it's good!

It's sugary, salty and very acidic.
I associate the smell with when you take off a pair of leather shoes and you can smell the leather. Not the smell of feet or sweat but leather. Have you ever submerged a coin into a dollop of brown sauce? It cleans it as if it were new again. It's like battery acid. But very yummy.

I got a little sample sachet to try last week and I didn't like it. I put some on my steak and then scraped it off. It's too sour for my liking, like thickish vinegary worcestershire sauce. Not for me, no!
