Million Dollar Baby I saw this movie this week and can't stop thinking about it. It was tragic, inspiring, sickening, well acted, well directed, and I haven't stopped thinking about since Tuesday. Anyone else see it? "Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut." Ernest Hemingway

Ugh. Thought provoking and sad! "Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut." Ernest Hemingway

Yes! I saw it the day it opened here and again since then. I don't think anyone should give anything away about it - that's probably the best way to see it. I wasn't sure what to expect, though I'd heard many times "It's not a boxing movie." I don't know the best way to explain it. It's not a movie about boxing, but about the people involved in boxing.
It's a very moving picture, and I felt a lot of intense emotion throughout - happiness, grief, repulsion, excitement. It's a real movie about real people, and it really stands up to the hype. Best film of the year if you ask me and, indeed, the best movie in a few years. If I had my way, it'd win Oscars for picture, director, actress, supporting actor and writing. As much as I loved Hilary Swank in Boys Don't Cry, she was even better in this film. It's also the best role Morgan Freeman's had the opportunity to play in a long while. He's overdue for his award.

I agree about not telling too much. I don't think I could see it twice though. Did your opinion change after the second time? I agree that it is the best picture. Before seeing it I was leaning towards Sideways. But this movie has more substance. "Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut." Ernest Hemingway

No, and in fact, it strengthened my opinion. There were a few things I caught that I didn't notice the first time. I'll org note you one in particular.

Please do. Even the comic relief of the Danger character was destroyed in a tough manner. "Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut." Ernest Hemingway
