Pisces (February 19 - March 20)

Your January Horoscope by Susan Miller

You'll have the tiger by the tail---don't let it go! This will be a critical phase for your career, for Mars will heist you to the top of the charts. You worked very hard last month during the holiday period, and in some respects, January continues this trend. There is one critical difference in that instead of working alone, you'll be coming into contact with large groups of people, and being out and about will do you a world of good.

The social trend this month will be quite strong. You may be going to a wedding or large reunion. Or, you may attend club events where you might volunteer for a leadership post. Most of the time you like to work by yourself, but this month, the cosmos will move you out of your cozy home to share your natural light with others.

In this glittering month, it will be obvious that your star is on the rise. All the hard work you put into your career over the past 12 months is about to pay off. You may have just received a big promotion or job offer--or will soon. You'll now feel like you are moving into a completely new phase, because, you are!

If you're self-employed, you will have the ability to land a huge client. When it becomes public information, even your competitors will have to admit that you've scored yet again. The efforts you make at this time have a powerful bearing on your future because your victories will continue to lead you down new paths. Keep your nose to the grindstone and your spirits high. With such rare and important cosmic support behind you, it would be hard to fail.

There are two points in the month that will prove to be exceptionally fortunate for career reputation.

The first period will happen almost the minute you start the year, from January 2 to January 5, when Venus, Mercury and Pluto will combine energies to push you forward and upwards. This tinderbox of cosmic energy is ready to explode with festive fireworks--soon your name will be buzzing on everyone's lips. If you've done everything right, this will be your time to take a bow. The harder you worked, the brighter the sky will light up at this time.

On January 27, when Mars meets with Pluto. Pow! Again, you find that preparedness plus opportunity equals exceptional career luck. By this time in the month, you will have proven yourself to be a force to be reckoned with, dear Pisces. It will feel exciting to be so lauded.

Financially, things look great too. You will appear ready to cash in on a long-term project that you have given many hours of your time. You may have even wondered if it would ever truly come to fruition. If you are still working on a project that seems arduous and hard to complete, keep at it. You have old Saturn, standing in your creativity sector, asking you to pay attention and focus. "Make it the best it can be!" says he. Saturn knows you are capable of more and won't let you settle for anything less than your best.

Here are two days to watch for financial gain:

Friday, January 14 (or Saturday, January 15): On this day, Mars, ruler of your income sector, will reach out to your ruling planet Neptune, and create a link between your creativity and eventual profit. Strut your stuff!

Friday, January 21: Thanks to a fantastically friendly interaction of Jupiter and Mars, you could see some sort of brilliant profit from an idea or project you've cooked up or recently launched. Success seems in the bag!

Against all this excitement, in another part of your chart, several planets will be gathering in Capricorn in your eleventh house of people-fun-groups. If you didn't have a chance to see friends over the holidays (and your chart suggests you couldn't because you were working too hard) then the cosmos will give you a second chance in January. You need to relax a little, so accept those invitations as they come. Your friends have been keeping tract of your success and will want to celebrate with you!

Beyond seeing friends, there appears to be a reason you will be mixing with others in formal groups or whole communities of people, Venus (popularity), Mercury (communication) and the Sun (strength and authority figures) will all meet in this house to help put you before your adoring public---if that is part of your plan. You may give a speech, serve on a panel, or appear as a guest on television or radio. Or you may run for office in a club or organize a charity drive and champion others toward your worthy cause.

Romantically, things have been bit hard for Pisces, because Saturn in the fifth house has caused all kinds of obstacles. You may feel that you cannot mesh schedule with your new love because of differences in work or study schedules. Or your sweetheart may need to travel a great deal or work in a distant city. You may meet someone interesting only to find out that this person isn't available or if they are, are still pining over a past love. Situations like these are common when Saturn tours the fifth house of love. Thankfully, things will clear up this coming July when Saturn leaves your fifth house.

In the meantime, don't give up. Saturn may make it a little harder to find love but Saturn won't stop you from experiencing love altogether. This month the planets in friendly Capricorn will bring you into contact with many new people, and among the many faces could be one very special person. Be open, stay optimistic and your good energy will draw others to you.

There is one tough day coming that you may want to watch out for: January 13, when Saturn opposes the Sun. This day could translate into a highly depressing situation with a lover or friend when you are criticized or let down in some way by this person. Should this occur, it's likely that you will be taken by surprise. Try to take this day in stride, as best you can. Not every Pisces will be affected by this configuration--it depends on how things have gone on within your relationship for some time. If you have been under any illusions, Saturn will coax you to see your alliance in more realistic terms. This can be hard, because we are talking about emotional issues here, those of love and friendship. I point this day out because it is often better to know than to not!

Your two best date nights of the month are:

January 8, when the moon will be in Capricorn and Jupiter and Venus will cook up some sizzling romantic fun.

January 14, when Mars and Neptune will be in a perfect dance and the moon will glide in Pisces. This day could turn out to be surprisingly sentimental and tender.

Guard your health on the full moon, January 25 plus or minus four days, when you may feel a little tired. If you are fighting a cold, you will need to slow down, because this full moon could put you in bed with the sniffles. A big work project at the office comes to fullness at this time too. Even though you may feel a bit frayed at the edges, you will still have to push the project out the door. That exertion may create too great a drain on your system. Knowing this, you can plan ahead. Keep a light schedule in the last week, and treat yourself to more sleep if you feel run down.

In this banner month, you'll be highly productive. By the time you reach the end of January, you'll have a batch of new gold stars to wear on your lapel. How exciting to see your work so praised and appreciated!

Summary::

This is sure to be a memorable, red-letter month for career success. So much of the work you've done over the past two years is coming to fruition, proving once and for all that you have what it takes to be a winner. Watch January 2-5, January 14, January 21 and January 28 for days that will find you celebrating all kinds of new milestones.

With Uranus in Pisces so sweetly angled to planets in Capricorn, you are rapidly evolving into a new and better version of yourself. You are also discovering talents in you that you never knew existed, and it is clear you are developing them as rapidly as you can.

Mars in Sagittarius will give you the impetus to work hard and beeline into major opportunities. You will have stamina and drive to make it to the top, and the business smarts to make creative ideas turn a hefty profit. Indeed, financially, your picture has never been brighter. If a certain creative project has seemed especially hard to complete lately, keep plugging---you are doing a remarkable job and WILL generate praise and profit at the finish line!

With so many planets in Capricorn filling your eleventh house, you will likely find the time to see friends and possibly also be attending a large number of group functions. You may lead those groups, or you may attend them, eager to get the information they will provide. This month, groups seem to play a part of your destiny. It is no month to stay home and hide your light under a barrel! Get out and show your talents to the world!

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)

Your January Horoscope by Susan Miller

As January begins, there will be almost no downtime to help you switch gears to January's fast pace. As of the new moon on Monday, January 10, you will need to be up to speed at work, ready to take on the world. With the Sun, Venus and Mercury crowded in your third house of communication, you'll want to be in touch with your key contacts and get the ball rolling. December was a hard month because Mercury was retrograde, and projects languished. Mercury normalized its orbit on December 20, but by then the holidays got in the way (not that this completely bothered you). Now it's up to you to motivate others to come together and take up where you all left off in late November.

Planets in Capricorn suggest financial details on agreements-in-progress will be at least partly your focus. Saturn will oppose this new moon, so you will need to be patient. Reaching consensus will be hard, and you'll need to use finesse to keep talks moving forward. At least one individual will want the language changed in any agreement on the table, so expect to have to come up with some resourceful ideas. Grin and bear this--it's all part of the process.

You will apparently spend quite a bit of money this month, due to Mars' influence in your second house. Fortunately, if you keep your cool and stay on point, you will be able to bring in quite a bit.

This new moon, January 10, would be an ideal time to launch a publicity or advertising campaign, or unveil a new website, newsletter or magazine. You may begin a writing project now, too--if so, it would be remarkably successful. You might begin a manuscript, thesis, or research project, as a few examples. If so, begin on, or within days following January 10.

The third house is also associated with travel, so you may need to travel to and from a city not far from where you are based. This would be during the week of January 10 or in the week that follows. With Saturn challenging the moon, any travel at this time would be for work and may, unfortunately, be a bit arduous. Try to pace yourself, as you will have a great deal on your plate this month.

Have a look at your computer to see if you need new software, or upgrade your operating system. A new moon in the third house, as you have now, always marks an ideal time to investigate ways new technology can make you more organized and efficient. For the same reason, you may want to upgrade your cell phone service, or order high-speed wireless access for your home. You may want to add a home fax machine, or buy a high-tech Blackberry, Trio or similar device. You'd love the convenience your new electronics offer you. Mercury is no longer retrograde, so this would be the right time to attend to all your electronic needs! The new moon in the third house of communication on January 10 will help you choose products you'll enjoy for a long time to come.

If you are creative, you might want to send out direct mail cards or other self-promotion material to potential clients about your artwork at this new moon, January 10--the response would be excellent. Jupiter and Neptune will remain at excellent angles to one another in the early part of 2005, indicating that sales of your artistic ideas would not only be strong, but the clients you cultivate would help you open new doors. Jupiter naturally rules your solar second house of money, and Neptune rules the arts and your solar fifth house of creativity. You see how perfectly positioned you are to score a major coup?!

You may hear of a financial breakthrough on any front (creative or otherwise) on January 21, when Mars and Jupiter will collaborate on your behalf. While every sign of the zodiac will enjoy luck on this fabulous day, you will be positioned to enjoy it even more because Mars is one of your two rulers. Schedule important talks for January 21!

Your career will be a major focus at the full moon, January 25 (plus or minus four days). Shining in your house of honors, awards and achievement, this full moon will help you get all sorts of professional kudos. If you have interviewed for a new job lately, you would hear an offer within four days of January 25. It looks like you'll get precisely the answer you were hoping to hear! This same full moon may bring a very public memo from the boss praising your work, or an interview in the press about your recent accomplishments. Your status is clearly rising, dear Scorpio!

If you are discussing salary at month's end, you should be thrilled with the compensation you secure. Pluto and Mars will meet in your second house of earned income near this full moon on January 28 in a perfect angle to generous Jupiter. Don't take any less than what you feel is your due! This will be a wow of a day, when your negotiating skills will operate at an all-time high. You'll be a force to be reckoned with, for sure!

At the same time as this full moon, January 25, Venus will be in a hard angle to Saturn, so you may wince when you realize how much you will have to pay a headhunter (or other middleman) for the job on the table. No matter--the fee seems to be worth every penny. Remember, Mars and Pluto will act like money cops to see you get your due!

One word of caution: be careful about any last-minute references you might need to give your prospective employer. With Venus and Saturn in opposition at this full moon, you could find that someone you trusted and assumed would write a flattering report about you might not deliver. Be careful. Should the worst happen--the reference does not support you--this person seems not to be a strong enough part of the equation to prevent you from getting the job. Still, why tempt fate? When naming a reference, be sure talk to the person first, ask permission and feel sure you can rely on this person to support you all the way.

Summary::

Last month, finances were very much on your mind, and that trend will continue in January. Your expenses will run high now, but you seem to have several innovative ideas for increasing your income that will keep the tiger from your door. An artistic project, in particular, may bring you exceptional acclaim, and has the potential to grow into a generous profit center. Take your ideas seriously--speak to influential people who can bring you to the next level.

Lots of quick weekend travel will be possible now, too, but at times it may feel a bit arduous, suggesting that you may need to take those journeys to negotiate a business contract or finish up family business. You may have difficulty reaching agreement on certain deal points, so be prepared by arming yourself with all necessary facts and figures. You can win but to do so, you will need to display great fortitude and persistence.

At the time near the full moon, January 25, you may receive a glittering promotion that would increase your profile and bring considerable responsibility. Scorpio loves power--this job would give it to you. The compensation should be excellent, too.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

Your January Horoscope by Susan Miller

If there's one thing a typical Gemini doesn't enjoy, it's taxes and other financial paperwork--you don't generally like all the detail it requires. Well, that's precisely what seems to be on the agenda this month. Look at it this way: Everyone has to do it, and if you do it all now, it'll be over with. When spring comes and everyone else will be cooped up adding receipts for their taxes, you'll be finished. Planets in Capricorn are urging you to be practical and objective, and getting taxes out of the way now is one way to do their bidding.

See if you can get things ready for your accountant just after January 10, the date of the new moon. Looking over your accounts may give you ideas about adjustments to make in the way you invest, spend or earn money. Saturn will oppose the new moon, suggesting that after that moon appears mid-month, you will be aware of some sobering financial realities. You may have to focus on credit, loans, or a mortgage, and it would be a good time to renegotiate terms in these areas. Saturn may be a cranky stick-in-the-mud, but Uranus, planet of surprise, will be in a very supportive angle to both Venus and your ruler, Mercury, suggesting that you will likely get good news about money--perhaps a small, unexpected windfall.

Let's talk about Saturn for a moment. Whenever I meet a Gemini these days, he or she asks in less than five minutes, "How does my financial picture look in the next few months?" That is probably one of your main concerns these days, and rightly so. You have hosted Saturn, the taskmaster planet, in your second house of earned income for 18 months so far, and you have approximately another six months to go. (Once Saturn departs, it will not return to this house for 29 years.) Saturn has caused you to go back to basics, to find new sources of income. It seems that recently, just as you were about to get your head above water, you were offered an opportunity that, if accepted, would actually set you back a little before you could go forward. It all was so ironic--you probably felt like you were jinxed. Would you ever be able to negotiate a decent salary for yourself? Yes! Don't lower your sights! You will. The sacrifices you are making now will pay off shortly. Compared with the long, long road you've come down, you have just a few short months to go! Saturn always leaves a gift by the door when he leaves, and if you stay the course, you will get your reward in late summer or early fall.

Your eighth house, currently packed with planets, rules not only financial management, but also surgery, so a small percent of Gemini will be taking care of needed medical procedures this month. If you need an operation, this would be the best time to have it done. My mother--many of you know Little Mom and how much I love her--is a Gemini and had two completely unexpected emergency operations in the week before and after Christmas.

I believe in surgery. It's always fixed me up, and I am grateful that there are doctors in this world who know precisely what to do when it needs to be done. I hope you feel that way, too, if you need a little "tune up". This is how Little Mom refers to her operations. Little Mom is a hearty little soul. She may only be 4'7" tall, but she's a tower of determination and feisty energy. At 85, she doesn't let anything keep her down, and I think that's a major reason she recovers so quickly.

Her first operation was to repair a broken hip (she fell in her apartment last week) and everything went so well! A few days after surgery, she was walking up and down the hall with the nurse so much that the doctors couldn't believe it. One day she was so knocked out after a day of lots of practice walks that she practically fell on the bed with all her clothes on--the nurse barely got her slippers and robe off before she fell soundly asleep. She was anxious to get well before the second operation, due one week later.

As I write this, today is the day for her bigger of the two operations. When the hospital X-rayed her hip, they discovered a stone in her bladder the size of a baseball, which needs to be taken care of. I will let you know how it goes. Finding out about this stone solved a stubborn health mystery, and I know that after the surgery she will be much more comfortable. (She fell and broke her hip on December 14, so they discovered this long-existing problem in her bladder when Gemini's ruler, Mercury, was retrograde--as you see, sometimes long-term situations are fixed once and for all during a Mercury retrograde phase.) Her complaints were so muffled and softly spoken that my sister and I completely missed the fact that she had a treatable problem, and we felt so badly about that. We had taken her to doctors--good ones--but all had dismissed her problem as part of the process of growing old, which was not true. Remarkably, not one doctor X-rayed her, so they didn't see the stone! At long last her painful problem will be fixed.

I have told you about Little Mom so that if you need an operation, you will feel good about having your procedure done now. Dear reader, when I give you advice, know that I give the same advice to myself and to my family. I do understand that it's a bit anxiety-provoking to have an operation, but the hospital staff will know how to make you comfortable, so have faith in that.

I think anxiety about surgery mainly stems from being out of control. My doctor once asked me if I was nervous the night before surgery. At 14, facing one of the biggest operations of my life (to redo the vascular and artery system in my leg due to a birth defect), I nodded, yes. He laughed and said, "What you are you worried about? I am the one who has to do the work! You get to sleep through this!" I know it sounds crazy, but his little joke really did calm me down. I never forgot those words, for I had total faith in his ability. Indeed, in the end, things did go well.

If you are in good health but feel that in recent weeks you have just come through an unusually hard period, you may have a point. Four planets were stacked up in Sagittarius, in direct opposition to your Sun--never an easy set of aspects. If you feel that you were in conflict with just about everyone in your life, or that you needed to do an unusual amount of persuasion to get things done your way (or, to get them done at all), you got that right. It was exhausting, wasn't it, dear Gemini?

You'll like January much better. You will still have some very forceful people around you, thanks to the presence of Mars and Pluto in Sagittarius, opposing your Sun--but in a few weeks, even Mars will move on. You will have to appease certain powerful types while you do your best to present your own position. (I don't exactly propose that you simply cave in without putting up a fuss. You have to present your case. At the same time, try not to fight battles you can't possibly win.) This will keep up until February 6--after that, you will see a huge improvement.

The full moon will light up your third house of travel on January 25 (plus or minus four days) so you may head out of town for a quick trip to rest, or to see your sister or a favorite cousin. It's also possible that this full moon will bring a contract to sign. If so, try to delay things--I am not enthusiastic about Mercury, your guardian planet and ruler of contracts, in direct opposition to Saturn on this full moon. I also don't like Mercury's opposition to Neptune. It appears that there is language in this contract that will have to be changed before you can even consider signing. I would prefer to put things off and sign next month on February 8, the new moon in the ninth house, also known to be a legal center of your chart.

A terrific career day when some good news is likely to come your way will be January 13. Circle it in red! Venus, now in Capricorn in your eighth house of commissions, royalties and windfalls (among other, similar types of funds) will reach out to Uranus in your tenth house of profession. If your salary is based on how well you perform, this will be a great day. It will also be a good day to apply for a grant, mortgage or scholarship.

Romantically, I love Friday, January 21 for you. Jupiter, the good luck planet, now in your house of true love, will receive a beam from Mars in your house of partnership and commitment. If you are attached, this could be an exciting date night. With planets in your eighth house, it's also due to be quite sexy! The icing on the cake? The moon will be in Gemini--an ideal day!

A good runner-up date night would be Saturday, January 15, when Mars will reach out to Neptune, spinning all kinds of romantic melodies in the evening air.

Finally, in our list for most romantic dates, third place will go to the weekend of January 29-30, when the moon will be in Libra for both days, a fine spot for you. This weekend may not have the sprinkling of stardust that the other two days listed do, but this weekend should be lots of fun anyway. With lucky Jupiter hovering over the moon like a kind uncle who wants to spoil you, you should find this a sweetly romantic moment of the month.

Summary::

As a rule, the Twin doesn't enjoy focusing on money management, but this month, there's probably no avoiding doing so. With a plethora of planets stacked in your eighth house of other people' money, you'll have deals to negotiate, funds to loan, or financial resources to divide. Jupiter's position in Libra suggests you might be working with an agent or other kind of business partner, or appropriating funds with a spouse. If forging a partnership, know that the person you are dealing with appears to be short on cash. If you need them to contribute money to the endeavor, you may be disappointed.

This month, focus on negotiations you CAN win, rather than ones you can't. Few deals are straightforward; so if you encounter resistance, view it as to be expected. Consider whether you want a non-financial benefit from the situation and, if so, add it to your list of options when speaking with the other side.

If you have surgery planned this month, move forward with vigor--it's a good time to do so. If you have faith in your doctor, that's all you will need to get started on the road to healing.

At the month's last week, treat yourself to a glorious weekend away. By then you'll be done with your financial calculations and will welcome a rest. Going away will make you new again.

Leo (July 23- August 22)

Your January Horoscope by Susan Miller

The New Year has dawned and you are startled to find that your boss expects you to hit the ground running. Everything will seem to come on too strong and too fast, but you will have little choice but to help yourself to another cup of coffee, roll up your sleeves, and dig in.

The new moon on January 10 (operative for two weeks) and several planets in Capricorn will likely bring you a new work assignment. Capricorn is a highly financial sign, so there appear to be some budgetary considerations involved. You may wonder if you can handle a project of this magnitude and detail, but don't worry, you can.

You'll put in long hours over quite a long time (perhaps up to six months) to get everything done, but you should give it all you've got. Your aspects for career success are strong in the second half of 2005, so you can safely assume that the work you do on this month's plum assignment will be assessed and examined later, when you're up for that new top spot.

Your creativity will be exceptionally rich all month, so perhaps you will be able to apply your talents to this new project. You'd love that. As a Leo you're always looking for a way to put your stamp of individuality on all that you do.

Saturn's tough angle to the Sun and new moon this month shows just how hard it will be for you to get into a routine in January, especially when you consider the lyrical and possibly leisurely pace you enjoyed in December, particularly during the last week. It takes time to get into the swing of the holidays, but once you got there, part of you wants to hang on to your happy spirit. You can! Thank Mars, the planet that will help you do so. This feisty planet will see to it that you continue to keep a lively social calendar this month, despite your no-nonsense work schedule. If you are single, keep circulating--this will be an outstanding month to meet someone new. In fact, there appears to be someone in your path that has noticed you and is waiting to see if you'll send a glance of acknowledgement.

One day that should be a real standout will be Friday, January 21, when Mars will work with Jupiter to send you off traveling to a sweet spot not too far from home. Hopefully you'll be able to take a weekend retreat--if you do, you will enjoy every minute.

January 21 will certainly be a romantic way to start the weekend. There are other days to watch, too. For best date nights, I would add these runner-ups: Friday, January 7, when the moon will move in fellow-fire sign Sagittarius, and Saturday, January 15, when the moon will shine in Aries, another good spot for you.

One very tough day that I should warn you about will be January 13, when Saturn will oppose the Sun. This annual astrological event often has a draining influence on most people, but you seem more vulnerable to it because the Sun is your ruling luminary. You may feel tired, overwhelmed or in desperate need of sleep on this day. If someone criticizes you, you are likely to go to pieces when normally you'd just roar loudly to frighten them away! Realize that you'll be more sensitive than usual and that you'll feel better in a day or two. Try not to schedule anything vital on this day.

The month will end on a full moon in Leo on January 25, which will bring something terribly important to fruition. It is hard to say what that is--the meaning resides so deeply within you that even I cannot see it. It may have something to do with a relationship, but I am not sure. You will know, for sure. This full moon will touch you extra powerfully if you were born within five days of July 27.

The problem with this full moon is that it will oppose Neptune in a wide degree, so be sure you are picking up the right signals from a partner at month's end. As said, the mathematical degrees will not form a tight aspect, so there is only a small chance any misunderstandings would arise. Still, it's always worth going the extra mile to double-check what you think you heard.

Having a full moon in your own sign always presents a good opportunity to take extra care of your health--take advantage of this to avoid coming down with a bad cold at this time. If you feel yourself getting achy near January 25, try to take action immediately with extra sleep and an upgraded diet of fresh foods.

Speaking of health, as I wrote in my book, "The Year Ahead 2005", as a Leo you are one of the only signs with such good aspects in January to advance a fitness-and-diet program. Most people make New Year's resolutions in January, but unless they have a positive new moon, like you do, to help them along (or, as Cancer has, a really helpful Mars) unfortunately, their chances of success are low.

You do have this edge, so if you feel well--and ONLY if you do--why not take full advantage? Here's the plan: Begin stepping up your exercise program on January 10 with the new moon in your sixth house, which rules, aside from new day-to-day projects, the measures we take to protect health and stay fit.

If you are game, begin your daily exercise routine on January 10. If your doctor says it is OK, try to be active every day. While you can't lift weights or do body sculpt each day, most people can do cardio each day. Consistency is more important than any other factor in your program.

Then later, three or four days after the full moon on January 25, begin cutting back on your portion sizes. In other words, begin your sensible diet on January 28 or 29 for best results.

This month's new moon is not only perfect for beginning a fitness program, but also for seeking medical advice on just about any concern. Planets in Capricorn point to care for teeth and bones so be sure to include a visit to your dentist.

As you see, you're due a busy month, one that will include lots of work on the job, but also some fun social moments and ways to express your innate creativity. You can get fit and look great by beach season. Dear Leo, you seem to have it all!

Summary:

Tune up your looks, health and fitness, dear Leo. If you have any medical or dental needs, look after them this month--if you do, you'd get top-notch advice. If you feel you need more self-discipline to stick to your fitness schedule, planets in Capricorn will certainly give you that.

Of all the signs, you are the MOST favored to begin a new weight loss routine in January. Just after the new moon on January 10, increase your activity level. Saturn's presence says no crazy diets or pills--sensible, slow and steady is the way to go. After the full moon on January 25, scale down portion sizes. This plan will bring results!

Romantically, if single, a new relationship is poised to begin. There appears to be one intriguing person in your path who would like to know you better, but is feeling shy about approaching you. Keep your antenna up near month's end--you may correctly guess whom this person may be.

Short travel to nearby towns would increase your likelihood of a chance meeting--January 21, a Friday, would be the ideal time to take to the road.

Married Leos will find enormous pleasure when interacting with children. This would also a good time to start knitting booties for a baby--yours, that is!

Libra (September 23 - October 22)

Your January Horoscope by Susan Miller

As demanding as your job may be, as January begins it's clear that home or family matters need your urgent attention. With a plethora of planets filling your fourth house, even if you would prefer to defer family, residential or property-related questions to another time, your chart suggests that this is not possible.

It may be that a family member, most likely a parent, is infirmed and needs you to drop by often to help out. Or, it may be that you will have to sort out family business, and because this matter is urgent you will need to take time away from work to do so.

If it is not a family member that needs your assistance, it may be a roommate, landlord or other person related to your home or property that will create a situation that demands attention.

Or, it may be that you need to move or renovate. Your lease may be up or a new job may require that you search for a new space. The holidays intervened with any progress you would have made on this last month, so now would be the most logical time to begin!

White sales and bargains on furniture abound in January, so perhaps finding important new additions to your home is your goal. Whatever it happens to be, your mind will be completely focused on home or family. With so many planets in Capricorn, there appear to be bank checks and ledgers around that have to be attended to as well--I see issues related to money in the form of deposits, payments, and credit cards! If you are dealing with contractors, perhaps what I see here is the need for written estimates.

Attending to this situation will not be easy. Your chart clearly shows that your boss needs you to focus on current projects and to lend your expertise at the office. No one appears to be able to fill in for you, which puts you in a bit of a tight squeeze.

Libras are currently going through a rather exciting period, where they are being promoted into positions of greater responsibility. It appears that part of your role on the job is new, and that there's a learning curve to adopt to in order to become proficient. You appear not to be fully complete with your apprenticeship quite yet--there is more to learn. Alas, taking time away from your job these days would be extremely hard. You are very aware of what's on the line, and have been trying to give your job all you've got.

Even if you are self-employed, your chart suggests your clients want to be catered to in a certain way, and have been quite demanding lately. Saturn, still in your tenth house of career, will continue to act like an anchor pinning you squarely to your desk until mid-July 2005. For this reason, in January you seem very conflicted. Both your home and career life need decisions and actions from you that can't quite be postponed. You may wonder, which segment of life will win out? It's clear: home and family. With the Sun, new moon, Venus and Mercury in this house, you would almost have no choice but to focus there.

One day when you are likely to feel this push-pull between work and home-related affairs quite dramatically will be January 13. Although this day will bring one of the most suffocating of all aspects, Saturn opposed to the Sun, it will also have one of the best, Venus in a lovely angle to Uranus. Venus is your ruler, and may bring some delicious surprises to a work project you have devoted yourself to lately. You are also likely to get support from co-workers on January 13, and that's news--crazed with their own agenda, they haven't been able to help you too much in the past.

Although you probably began to see this home-and-family matter heat up last month near the holidays, things will become busier in this area just after the new moon, January 10. With Venus in your house of home, the improvements you make will please you. Venus will either beautify your physical environment or make family relationships smoother and sunnier. If you are looking for a new space, plan to look diligently in the week of January 10, when you are most likely to find your ideal space.

Planets in Capricorn don't blend easily with Libra, so there will be some tension, and I am so sorry to have to report that. If you were born on October 13, plus or minus three days, you will feel the themes of this most powerfully, and will be most in need of stress relief. On the plus side is that planets in Capricorn are cardinal like yours, Libra, so you will get a lot accomplished--cardinal signs define new directions and are oriented toward getting results.

If you find you can't complete everything in January, Mars will come to the rescue from February 6 to March 20 with options that will allow you to finish what you start now. The first three months of 2005 will be your very best for attending to home and family matters. If possible, don't leave decisions for later in the year, because you won't have nearly as much cosmic support in your fourth house of home as you do in the first quarter.

You may travel this month, too, perhaps for your job. If you go, it will likely be a quick getaway. Due Mars' presence in your third house you seem to have a lot of details to take care of, perhaps to negotiate a deal or an agreement.

If you do need to take a trip, do so on January 21--Mars and Jupiter will make this day a standout. Jupiter will be in Libra, and Mars will be in Sagittarius, both perfectly compatible places in the sky--go on this day and your trip will be a success.

Mars' position could bring you in very close contact with your sister or brother this month, too, possibly to help you with the family situation. Your sibling may not always agree with you when you need him/her to, but try to stay diplomatic--Mars can be a bit rambunctious. You need your sibling to be an ally so don't create unnecessary tension. This will be especially important to remember around January 28 when Mars and Pluto join forces, making any sort of negotiation difficult with anyone, let alone a sibling.

Life will improve noticeably as you go through the month. By the time the Sun moves into Aquarius on January 19, you'll have more cosmic support and feel far less tension.

Romance will be on the agenda next month, in a much bigger way. In the meantime, there are two excellent days to watch.

One happy date night could be Friday, January 21, when Mars and Jupiter will link up to make this a memorable day. The moon will be in Gemini, a great spot for you! Someone you love may suggest the two of you take a drive out of town to enjoy a dinner in a restaurant in a country setting. If so, agree. This should be a fun night out.

Another highly social evening should arrive on the tender full moon on Tuesday, January 25, plus or minus four days. On a date near this full moon, you may be invited to an enchanting, luxurious event where the host will spare no expense. This full moon will fall in your eleventh house of hopes, wishes and friendships, a house that will be filled with warmth and social fun. You may go to a wedding or to a festive party. Whatever it is, you seem to love every minute.

If you were born on September 27, or within five days of this date, put an extra two gold stars on this full moon--this event's made for you!

Summary::

Home and career will pull you in two very separate directions. It will be hard to serve two masters--your boss AND your family (or landlord/ roommate)--but that looks like what January will be all about. With an ever-increasing workload, an employer who won't let you off the hook on the job, along with urgent decisions that will have to be made at home, you surely will have your hands full.

Still, you will get an enormous amount accomplished as planets in cardinal signs will push you to make decisions and see results, lickity-split. Mars will give you another chance to attend to these matters from February 6 through March 20, so if you find you need to continue to work on home and family matters, know you will have help finishing what you start this month.

Happily, this month will bring a number of romantic distractions, too. If you are attached, near the full moon on January 25 (after you have sorted out this work-home dilemma) you may be invited to a friend's wedding or a special celebration. By your aspects, this looks like a lavish affair--one not to

Summary::

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

Your January Horoscope by Susan Miller

This month, if you had the choice, you might just pull the shell down over your head and go your merry way. The world seems a bit loud these days and what you need most is a little quiet time to sort out the events of last year. You've had a lot of victories of late, including a promising fresh start in your career, and working out a relationship. Well, you can expect more. Jupiter will work hard to make your home life the best it can be in 2005.

After having hosted Saturn in Cancer for a year-and-a-half, you have rearranged your priorities, reassessed your values, and learned a great deal about your innate strength, resourcefulness and resiliency. It has not been an easy time for you, for Saturn asked you to be objective, detached and practical--just the opposite of your innate nature to be engaging, nurturing and sensitive to others. By being objective you were given a Polaroid of reality to hold at arm's length so that you could see things as they were, rather than how you wished them to be. You reluctantly learned that in the long run, it is better to deal with truth than fantasy.

This month, a preponderance of planets will gather in your seventh house of partnerships, but they are gentle ones: The Sun, new moon, Venus and Mercury. The problem is, Saturn is directly opposite the Sun and moon, a symbol of how restrictive life still is for you these days. Everything, it seems, has strings attached. You go after something that looks quite glittering, and as you come closer, you see what's being offered has many qualifiers to agree to before you can move forward. Take a deep breath, dear Cancer. It won't always be this way. You've got six more months until Saturn is due to leave your Sun, not to return for 29 years.

In the meantime, you will have to negotiate and compromise as best you can. If you feel you have to turn yourself inside out to rally others to your cause this month, I wouldn't be surprised, and I am so very sympathetic. It can be maddening, but if you feel passionate about your position, keep pushing forward. You will get others' attention--it will just be harder, that is all. In some cases, I feel you don't quite have the planetary support you need to get your projects and desires accepted in their purest form, so you may have to compromise here and there. That doesn't mean you shouldn't argue your case--you should. You'll need quite a bit of passion and determination to overcome the resistance you face. Be organized, do your homework, and don't let anyone catch you off guard.

Despite what I have just said, this will still be a good time to create one-on-one agreements with others. Your chart shows that you will become stronger by banding with others. For some, this influence may translate into a time for an engagement or wedding, for others, the signing of an agent or other middleman who can help you get ahead in business. Uranus is well positioned to Venus and Mercury, a good sign this union would work out, perhaps better than you suppose. If you want to create a formal alliance, do so just after the new moon, January 10.

Cancers born on July 12 will be most likely to benefit from the January 10 new moon in terms of setting up new, formal alliances.

When planets are stacked in an opposite sign, as they are for you (Capricorn is found at 180 degrees away from your birth month), it also tends to suggest that others may have lots of hints to share to "improve" you, which would understandably get on your nerves. Still, with Venus present, this advice may be given with the right spirit, and some of what you hear might be helpful and even complimentary. Keep an open mind even when you will be tempted to pull that shell down over your head, little crab, and listen.

At work, there is apparently a lot to do, and you'll be tap dancing as fast as you can to keep up. Still, there's one day when your amazing skills are likely to wow coworkers and higher-ups alike. Thanks to a beam between Mars and Jupiter on January 21, you'll see splendid results from your efforts on this day. Use this day to hand in a big project, or to make an important presentation.

Money will be your focus on the full moon, January 25. You may pay a large bill, or receive a salary offer. However, be careful not to misunderstand what you are told, as the full moon will oppose Neptune. Neptune's involvement always brings a cloudy, hard-to-read quality to circumstances. Be ready to ask a number of probing questions. I would not suggest agreeing to anything near this full moon, January 25 (plus or minus four days). Instead, I would hold off for next month's new moon, February 8.

You appear to be taking special interest in health and fitness these days. Last month we discussed how December's superb new moon could help you launch your program. If you missed that window of opportunity, you are fortunate to have Mars in your sixth house, extending this dynamic for another month. Mars is now beaming light and energy to the area of the chart that covers the methods and procedures we use to stay healthy.

Mars rules iron, so it would be an ideal time to try weight lifting or, if you already do work out with weights, to consult a trainer to see if there is a way to push yourself a little more, to reach a new level of strength. You will have plenty of vim and vigor this month, so it really would be a good time to kick off your plan. Astrologers always recommend exercise as the first step in the program, to get your body accustomed to a higher level of exertion. Then, three days after the full moon (in this case the full moon will fall on January 25) begin to diet. That would mean you would need to begin cutting back on calories on January 28.

Romantically, if you are single, you're more likely than ever to meet "marriage material" if you circulate. The problem is, Saturn is holding you down so I am not so sure you will feel much like socializing in January. Be open to friends' suggestions, and remember life won't always seem as serious and laden with responsibility as it does now.

Since it is apparent you are busy, let's outline the dates this month that would be worth venturing out! (Who has time for a dud of an evening?)

I like Thursday, January 13 and Friday, January 14, when the moon will be in Pisces. Of the two days, Thursday will be the better day, for you will also have Venus in a gorgeous angle to surprise-a-minute Uranus.

You might also like January 22, when the moon will be in Cancer, favoring you.

Of course, for those who are getting engaged or married, this will be a huge month, and having Venus in your marriage sector will be a big plus for you, for it creates a kind of full moon effect.

Dear Cancer, your life is stabilizing and becoming more manageable every day. You may not see this to be true quite yet because these improvements will occur in millimeters. What counts is that you are heading in the right direction, and soon those millimeters will add up to something big and obvious. Saturn always brings reward when his tour of duty is over, which, as said, will occur in mid-July. Hang in there. You will emerge stronger and in better shape than when you entered this period, ready for anything life throws your way.

Summary::

Someone close has a lot to say, and although you might be tempted to cover your ears and hum (so that you won't hear a word), try to open your mind and heart to what is being said. Along with criticism, you may hear some lovely compliments, much to your surprise. (Thank Venus in your opposite sign for that!) All month, if you try to take the lead and push things through your way, you will face danger of stiff opposition. Your willingness to compromise will get you farther, faster.

You may be thinking of merging energies this month, whether in terms of marriage or a business alliance. Act in the days following January 10, the new moon in your seventh house of formal committed relationships. Your partner will seem quite levelheaded and practical this month. And it seems he or she will have your best interests in mind.

You are moving into a period where finances will become an important focus--watch the full moon, January 25 for the first sign of this. This emphasis on money will continue in February, too. Save your pennies, as having a little cash reserve might come in handy when you find yourself in a tight--but temporary-- monetary squeeze in January's last week.

Taurus (April 20- May 20)

Your January Horoscope by Susan Miller

Finally, a month when you feel support from people you need, rather than competition from them for the prize. With the Sun, new moon, Mercury and Venus (your ruling planet, giving extra weight here) all in fellow-earth sign Capricorn, you'll find strength from surprising corners. There's been considerable stress in your life lately, so the change you see this month will come as a breath of fresh air.

If you feel a need a vacation, this would be the right month to escape. If you have someone to share the time with, all the better. You have a packed ninth house, indicating that you are a little bored with life "as is", and the stimulus of a new setting would re-energize you. February will be one of your biggest career months in recent memory, so if you do want to get away, by all means, choose to do so in mid-January. If taking a vacation seems like a crazy luxury, even a business trip would give you the change of pace you crave.

If you work in international relations, import-export, or diplomacy, you're likely to be unusually busy this month. Are you a college professor? The same holds true. If you are interested in publishing or broadcasting, or work in any phase of these businesses, you will be immersed in a large project.

The new moon on January 10 will be your date to watch, for from then on, not only will travel become a sweet focus, but all sorts of other learning and related experiences (discussed above) should become open to you.

If you plan to assess a variety of universities to decide which to apply to, now would be the time to schedule interviews and tours. You'd likely find institutions that would fit your needs.

You can also decide to take other types of classes, of course, such as seminars that offer insight into new developments in your industry, and you would meet with great success in doing so. In the ninth house, learning does not have to be serious--you could also take a class in something fun, like on wine tasting or Thai cuisine. Or, take a taxi over to the museum and catch that blockbuster exhibit before it closes. You may be changed by what you see. This is a big, juicy, wide world, with all kinds of options.

If you travel for business, with Saturn opposing the new moon you will have a clearly defined objective to complete on this trip. The trip may have many meetings or various locations, adding up to long hours of work. No matter--with so many planets cruising in Capricorn, you should hit the bull's eye. This is a superb time to go.

With Mars touring your eighth house, you will probably go through a chunk of cash for any number of reasons, and with emphasis on the eight house, it seems to come from credit cards. Do be careful, though I will admit, if you are spending for travel or education, it will likely be money well spent.

Let's not lose sight of the golden opportunity this month. The universe is urging you to step away from your desk and imagine your life in more colorful, panoramic form. It is easy to get so wound up in the mechanics of everyday living that you lose sight of the big picture. Ask yourself the right questions, and the right answers will emerge. You can make your life richer and more textured with deeper thinking and a little effort. One of your gifts of this month will be to see that almost everything is possible if you really want it and are willing to plan meticulously. When the ninth house is involved, there is always effort required to get to the prize, but that's part of the fun. Don't see the need for preparation as an obstacle, but rather as a way to demonstrate to the world the depth of your commitment.

Indeed, the ninth house is one of the only wildly adventurous houses of the horoscope, where you can and should think big. You'll soon discover that you don't have to fit into anyone's predetermined scheme of what you "should" or "shouldn't" do, but work on shaping your life the way you see fit. The beauty is that you have an open ticket, and that doesn't happen very often in life. Your chart suggests that you are ready to be a little wild, so surprise the people around you who think they can predict your every move. As a Taurus, admittedly, you are very consistent, but even the most consistent person should get out of the box now and then. If you don't like the script life has given you, this month you can take your first fledging steps toward making a significant change.

If you were born on or within five days of May 10, you will benefit most from the remarkable events that flow from the very positive new moon on January 10.

Home and family will draw your attention at the full moon, January 25, plus or minus four days. This full moon may turn out to be moving day, or it may be the time you hunt for, and find, your ideal living space or a new piece of property. There are any number of possibilities at this full moon, from the taking chance to choose a new roommate to calling the painters to give your living room a fresh shot of color. Or, it may be that your parents need your attention--something may be up with one of them and you'll need to help.

This full moon will oppose Neptune, the planet ruling all kinds of water, so near January 25, guard against water damage in your home or other property.

If this full moon doesn't assert itself in a physical way, it could create some sort of emotional impact. In this case, Neptune may cloud an important fact, making it hard to understand a family matter, or it could provoke an emotional outburst over a misunderstanding. Keep asking questions, and challenge your own assumptions. Those readers who are adopted may decide to look for their biological parents, but sifting through the paperwork may prove baffling. If this is your quest, don't give up--the problem seems to be temporary.

If you plan to spend money on your home at the time of the full moon January 25, or to hire a contractor or decorator, be sure to get everything down in a contract before any work is done. With Neptune active, you need to be extra careful to know all the facts and costs ahead of time.

Romantically, you will fan the fires of love with a sexy, tropical trip to a distant, sunny isle, where the waters are turquoise and the sunny breezes are gentle. I say this because the planet ruling your house of love, Mercury, will curl up in your ninth house with the other gang of planets this month.

You may also find love in a classroom setting, which sounds a little less exotic unless you meet in a poetry class and plan to memorize lines for one another later.

Your best date nights will be Saturday, January 8 and Thursday, January 13.

A work-related project that you turn in (or a presentation you make) on January 21 could help you spin ideas into gold. Expect a fat commission, royalty or bonus check.

Summary::

You've gone on many trips before, of course, but this time, everything will be different. If you go now, you'd find colors more intense, the food more delicious, and the romantic possibilities, hotter than anything you've experienced before. And while you would spend money--perhaps quite a bit--what price do you put on a memory? This month, you are being urged to see more of the world.

If you cannot duck out of town, you will be able to expand your mind in new ways, perhaps by returning to the classroom or joining a reading group, as just two of many possible options. Or, treat yourself to tickets to a few well-received cultural events. Any of these activities would allow you to discuss your experiences with friends or a sweetheart / spouse afterwards for an even fuller experience. Legal matters, publishing and /or broadcasting projects will require hard work, but should also bring reason for celebration.

If you travel, try to be home by late month, when important developments will surface near the full moon, January 25. Protect against water damage.

Summary::

Aquarius (January 20- February 18)

Your January Horoscope by Susan Miller

There are lots of contrasts in your chart these days, but you seem to be able to integrate them into a whole in your usual masterful way. On one hand you love being with friends. The socializing you did over the holidays put you more in the mood to do even more. Yet on the other hand, four planets in Capricorn, now filling your twelfth house, are making the voice inside you say, "Wait a minute! I need rest! I need peace! I need to sleep!" If you carefully pick and choose which social events with care, I feel you can have the best of both worlds.

On the social front, you seem to know quite a lot of people, and they all will want to reconnect with you. Last month--December---was a crazy month for most Aquarians, as Mercury's retrograde in your friendship sector raised tensions and caused you to cancel many plans. Now that Mercury will be out of retrograde (and won't make another retrograde run again until March 20) you'll be able to create a sane schedule for yourself in January, without worries of weird things getting in the way of your plans.

Throughout January, Mars will be touring your eleventh house of groups, communities and humanitarian interests. If you choose to rally others to a cause, your good work could help many less fortunate people, such as the victims in the recent tsunami in Asia. As an Aquarius, you have always been sensitive to others' needs, so the universe will back you one hundred-percent if you want to organize a charity drive now--whatever the cause. When Mars nestles close to Pluto near January 27, an against-all-odds mission that you take on will surprise everyone by proving to be a wild success.

On a more personal level, it appears a lot of new people will enter your life now, and some have an important role to play. You'll hobnob with high-level individuals who seem to care very much about your welfare. Your VIP friends will be willing and able to give you career help if you ask, so don't be shy. I say this because Pluto, the planet that naturally rules your lofty tenth house of career success will be based in your friendship quarter (eleventh house) for quite a while. Translation: The people you know and your professional success will be inextricably linked. This has been and will continue to be a long-term trend, lasting until 2008, but this month, Mars will light up this configuration brilliantly, which is why I mention it. Mars adds fire and light to whatever it touches, and brings an abundance of energy too.

The new moon on January 10 will usher in your need to rest that I touched on earlier. Space out your social events so that you won't be tempted to overtax your limits at this time. If you make a New Year's resolution to end a bad habit ("I'm cutting out junk food") or to begin a good one ("I'm going to start exercising") then this new moon will be your friend. Saturn will stand like a policeman across the skies from the new moon, giving you all the self-discipline you need to make your resolution stick. Many people who have a new moon in their twelfth house find the support of a buddy or professional therapist makes it easier to reach their goals. If you'd like such a person to help you, seek out that individual just after January 10 and the week that follows.

The buildup of energy in your twelfth house will have other benefits as well. For one thing, your intuition will be working at an all time high. Heed those hunches, even if that analytical brain of yours can't figure out why you should! Planets in this part of your chart help you know things without knowing the reason, so go with your intuition and have faith that you'll be right.

It is time to reflect on your coming birthday: Decide which elements of your life are working and which aren't, then delete the latter as best you can. If you want to make changes in the coming year, planets in the twelfth house will help you build a superb strategy. Take our your blueprints and courageously plot your course. Time your main actions to coincide with next month's new moon in Aquarius, February 8.

Dear Aquarius, you were not born to follow other's agendas. If you feel someone else has written a script for you that you don't like (and probably never did!), it's time to tear it up and write your own, your way. You are the ultimate trendsetter--don't let other people's opinions influence your future course.

At work, due to Saturn's presence in your sixth house, you will be putting in a day-and-a-half for everyone else's normal workday. You've probably been wondering how long you would be able to keep up this pace, but somehow you found the sheer strength to do so. Keep an eye on your diet so that you get enough nutrition, because your chart shows that you may be spreading yourself too thin.

This month may be ideal for taking care of medical and dental check-ups, as planets in the twelfth house will urge you to be more methodical about getting these little health chores done. If you've meant to get your eyes examined or your cholesterol checked, this is the time to do so. These little preventative measures will add up and keep you in top form.

One day when you may feel depressed over how hard it has been lately to hire good helpers at work or at home will be January 13. If you don't hire anyone, not even a babysitter, you may find yourself wondering aloud about why your coworkers keep wondering over to your desk, asking you to take over their work assignments when they should be doing those themselves. You don't do this to them! On this day, Saturn will oppose the Sun, always a draining aspect. If someone is critical of you on January 13, try to take any criticisms you agree with to heart, make changes, and discard the rest. You are likely to be a bit tired on this day; too weary to stick up for yourself, so let any comments you might hear roll over you. You will feel better in a day or two.

One four-star day to mark on your calendar will be January 21, when Mars reaches out to Jupiter in your ninth house. There are so many ways you can use this day! Romantically, you may be invited to a party and achieve an amazing rapport with one intriguing person. You may decide to meet again--very soon. At work, you could have luck with international commerce or relationships. Other possibilities on this day: You may hear good news concerning a court case or a breakthrough concerning a publishing or broadcasting project.

A relationship that is important to you will come into focus on the full moon, January 25, plus or minus four days. Most likely the emphasis will be on a romantic partner. (A long-term lover or spouse, perhaps?) Another prospect of this full moon could instead be about a business partner or someone you collaborate closely with at work. A lot depends on what's been going on all along--you may be thrilled with developments or find yourself breaking apart. Since your emotions will be at a high point, if things get tough (and I am not saying they necessarily will) it's best if you take a little time to reflect on what you hear before you respond. Let's hope all the news you hear is exactly what you had hoped.

If you are born on January 25, plus or minus five days, you will feel this full moon more strongly than other members of your sign. This month, the date I mentioned earlier, January 21, should be your very best.

Romantically, you'll be in better shape in February when all the planets move into your sign and support you!

Summary::

After having come through the holidays AND a tough work load at the office, in January you will be ready to sink into a comfy sofa, turn off the phone and pull down the blinds. You need rest, dear Aquarius. Even so, there'll be lots to look forward to this month if and when you feel up to venturing out. Friends will present you with quite a number of grand possibilities---the event on January 21 should be pure magic.

A few days later, near the full moon January 25, a romantic relationship reaches a critical phase. If things between you have been close, you may hear a confession of love and make future plans, but if things have been difficult, you may see a meltdown. If the latter occurs, try not to react. You'll have time to state your side of the story next month, and your words will have more weight if you listen first and act later.

At month's end, January 28, a highly placed friend will gladly speak on your behalf and turn the key on an exceptional career opportunity.
