Nostalgia

What things were cool in the past but don't or rarely happen or we don't have now..

Getting milk delivered to your doorstep

Driving without a seatbelt

Going to a petrol station and the attendant comes out and fills up for you

KitKat wrappers.. the old ones with the tin foil, you would rub it and slit the paper between the two fingers and you could have a KitKat bangle with the red paper wrapper

Leaving your house and not having to lock doors, close all windows

Opal Fruits NOT Starburst

Marathon NOT Snickers

Lemme think of a few more.. hmmm

Feel free to contuinue.. mushy

Letting your kids play on the streets without a care in the world.

nod I used to go out and play for hours.. would come home dirty or all wet... :lol@

we lived in the countryside so I used to go to the woods and build dens and dams with my bro and sis, or we would jump in the river and swim.. and if I got cramp or tired I would shout for our dog, Fudge and she would swim out to me and I would grab her tail and she would pull me back to safety ..or go to the beach and swim in the sea.. whatever took our fancy.. we would build houses from haystacks or climb into barns and jump from the haystacks and roll about and laugh and laugh or we would go for really long bike rides and take a picnic and be out all day.. and my parents never worried cos there were no freaks or pervs about.. what a wonderful safe childhood I had.. I was soo fortunate.. mushy

Even when I was little, my mother warned me about "The Underpant Man". If I ever saw him trying to look at my underpants or if he tried to show me his, I had to run home.

I don't think things are any worse now. People are just scared witless by the media. If I had kids, I'd let them play wherever they wanted - so long as they came back home when I told them to. In fact, it's even safer now because everybody's got mobile phones.

Getting back to the nostalgia, I don't remember so much what we had growing up in the seventies as what we didn't have...

No video recorders
No compact discs
No home computers
No microwave oven
No mobile phones or pagers

I just recall that we were poor and everybody we knew was also poor.

Going to individual high street stores 2 pay your bills, like the Electricity Showroom and Gas Showroom, like we used 2 do here in the UK. Now everything is so complicated with Direct Debit, PayPoint and paying over the phone with your Debit/Credit Card or even paying online!! As much as I love technology, at times its a total pain in the ass!!

The Milky Bar Kid!!! lol lol lol lol

The Fairy Washing Up Liquid commercial!!! lol lol lol

I don't know anybody who's ever been mugged. In fact, I'm possibly the only person I know that's been assaulted on a street. I still walk around on my own at night. You can't let stuff like that bother you.

Spending a dollar and having enough candy to last a week.
Selling lemonade or popiscles on the weekend on the front lawn.
Sprinting in the street.
Ding dong ditch and Hide-Go-Get-It.
Block/House parties (when no one would get shot).
Visiting relatives out of state.
Family reunions.
Saturday mornings (Cereal & Sigmund and the Sea Monsters).
Sleepovers.
Playing at the park.
Rollerskating.

Whew, those were the good ole days!

Playing soccer on lunch break when you were in elementary school and having your mom yell at you because you messed up your new shoes.

Being able to go to the movies late and still get a good seat.

Payphones that actually accepted coins!

The college years. touched
