I wonder if there will be a revolutionary breakthrough at da end dat has all the women in this book strip nekid and dance around da streetz screaming 'f*ck you muthaz!!!' Cause a part of me still findz it crazy dat in this day and age (well around the time era this book was set, which wasnt an awful long time ago, especially if u put in retrospect what western culture has become over da last say 50 years!!) how many people are fighting their freedoms. I mean fine, yeah, have your beliefs- if thats what you truly want- but certainly you would think a discussion-group on western literature is actually an advantage to their kind, as an 'eye-opener' to a certain part of the world dat has a large degree of dominance in da world. Da same way we might learn a lil more about them and their culture. Ofcourse their culture isn't like our culture. SO i guess i'm being hypocritical. Okay, let me ponder more... No hablo espanol,no!

Yes, this thread should be a sticky. It is an org community thing and will be ongoing, on this book at least, for a few weeks. Come on mods, sticky this baby up! When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

You eventually work it out but I feel she could be more clear. 2. Her failure to use parenthesis when relating conversations that seem to be direct quotes. I find I get lost in some of those block paragraphs where it is difficult to work out who said what without re-reading it (maybe I'm just thick). I noticed that, and couldn't decide whether it was a bad thing or not!! I think it has potential to confuse the reader, however at da same timez i felt maybe she was doing it to make is sound like she is having a one-sided conversation with us as readers in as far as her narration goes. Maybe that's her idea of a memoir in oppose to a novel which depicts a true story? Who knowz!! No hablo espanol,no!

Thank you most much...as I am having a little trouble getting the book but making it the mission this weekend! Hi pisces! Yeah there's not reall a deadline, but Lleena and I have been discussing a need for some kind of structure, especially since people are actually buying the book. We don't want this to be a wasted effort. But maybe we should start taking suggestions. Should we do a thread for each chapter or something? Wait for everyone to actually purchase it? I don't know. These things need to have a flow, but I think a structure of some kind would be an incentive to people.

I like the idea of chapter threads....good idea My only other thought is to set deadlines for purchase and chapter reads. This would allow for kinda free flow...but ensure that everyone has an opportunity to contribute and keep a steady "conversation" going about the book. That might be just enough structure. Thoughts? I am ordering the book tonight from Amazon as I need to order a couple of other things!!!! I love book reading ~ PISCESGLENN a happy
