Tell us about your commute...

How long is it? Do you drive? Take public transit? If you drive, is it via highway or through the city? If via transit, do you have to transfer? Do you have usual places you stop-off (for food, etc.)? Do you time your coming and going to avoid traffic? Anything else interesting about it? Tell us all about your daily commute! woot!

It takes me about 15 minutes to work.. I drive, through the city.. Actually over a viaduct, into downtown Denver.

I like to stop off at 7-11 for some Banana Fosters, Decaf coffee...drool

Some mornings when it is foggy, or rainy I pretend I am in San Francisco.. giggle

i take a train to work (takes about 15 minutes or so) and then i take a bus home, which takes about 35-40 minutes, which i don't mind cuz the bus is usually fairly empty and i can read and unwind on the way home. smile

Well, up until 2 months ago, I went through downtown Brandon (15 munutes if no accidents), got on the cross town highway (20 minutes), in to Tampa, go up Ashley Ave to I-275 (5 minutes if no accidents), and take 275 west to work (20 minutes).

But now, I only drive about 20 minutes to work as I moved locations.
Let me tell ya--shortening your drive to work makes things so much better.

I drive to work everyday, takes me 30 mins. BUT it's the most stressful drive sometimes because it's just a 2 lane route, I can't pass anyone unless there's no oncoming traffic and there usually is. So if I'm stuck behind a bus or some slow jerkface I'm screwed! And the speed limit is so strict, I have to drive through 4 towns before I get to the city and there are cops everywhere. I could take the highway but I have to cut across my city to get to it and it would be a waste of time. I get wicked road rage from my commute. mad

Who is Denis Leary?

He's a comedian/actor. On one of his HBO specials (also released on CD), he goes on an angry rant about how he can't find "coffee-flavored coffee" anymore.

I'd say door-to-door my commute is about 1 1/2 hrs in the morning and the same or longer in the evening. I take a bus and two trains. I usually listen to my Walkman and read a book. I finish and start books on the subway.

My commune is located in a forest in South Wales.

We grow organic vegetables and sing a lot. I haven't experienced toilet paper in over five years as we like to clean ourselves with leaves.

In the morning, we all wake up and have a ten minute orgy. Then I make us all a nice cup of tea which is infused with LSD.

At night, we light a huge bonfire and sit around naked, playing Kylie Minogue songs on guitars and kazoos.

Now that I've got a car it takes me about 15 minutes or so to get to and from work. A short drive through Uptown Mpls, past Calhoun Square and around the lakes. I actually love my drive, cause the lakes and trees and such are really pretty, even all frozen.

Back when I was living downtown and didn't have a car I'd walk the 11 blocks or so if it was nice out or bus if it was cold out to the heart of downtown, stop off for some coffee, wearing my headphones, sometimes dancin down the street a bit giggle then take the bus to work. It was about a 45 minute process or so. Then I'd take the bus back downtown and meander back home again (weather permitting), stopping at Let It Be (fave record store) often and sometimes walkin through the park. I kinda miss those days.

My commute can be described in 1 word HORRENDOUS!!!!

It is a 32 mile ride down one of the most heavily traveled highways, Route 15, in Connecticut. On a good day, it takes an hour. On a bad day, it can take 2 hours. I have to be in the office at 9:00AM, so every day I leave at 7:30. Some days I'm in at 8:30, others at 9:10... I wouldn't mind it so much if it was a consistent ride. It is the unpredictability that I detest!!!

sometimes my bus ride home from work is the only chance i have for a bit of peace and quiet and some reading time. actually, i kinda value it. sick, huh?

i work nights and hop on the bus after midnight, so sometimes there'll be some bum or drunk crazy person making a scene, but once i throw on the ol' headphones, they're all dead to me...
