I live in Washington state and safeway here carries Tab lol Never cared for it but they are still making it .....oh and I'm a pepsi person biggrin

Wow, Tab is still being made in Washington? We haven't had it here in Ohio in ages either, but I remember way back in the 70's, my mom used to drink it.

Yup. I live in Seattle, and Tab is sold at the 7-Eleven next to my home. Basically, each Coca-Cola bottler decides whether they want to produce Tab or not.

I actually just ran next door and purchased this can of Tab tonight, January 7, 2005:

Sorry for the low quality... I used a cell phone camera, and the lighting is bad.

what´s the difference between Tab and Diet Coke ?? I read somewhere that Tab was the predecessor of Diet Coke, but with saccharine instead of aspartam.Right?

More or less. Here's a good explanation by Cecil Adams, one of my favorite writers:

http://www.straightdope.c...1_193.html

BTW, that column was written in 1983. The next year, Tab was reformulated with a mix of saccharin and aspartame (NutraSweet). Why, I don't know. The addition of aspartame made Tab a risky product for people who suffer from phenylketonuria. But because Tab still contained saccharin, it had to keep its government-required warning label about a possible link between cancer and saccharin. (BTW, this link has been debunked, and the warning is no longer required. A saccharin/cancer warning does not appear on the can of Tab I bought tonight.)

As for Pepsi versus Coke, my favorite is Coke imported from Mexico, where they still use cane sugar instead of cheaper corn syrup to sweeten it. My favorite coffeehouse in Seattle, Victrola, sells it at $2.25 (including tax) for a 12-ounce bottle.

If I'm stuck with domestic corn-syrup sodas, though, then Pepsi is clearly superior. In fact, I'm drinking it right now. pepsi

Except, no. Coke is always better. Mexican is just extra-better. nana

Hi Matt...
Thanks for the link and the info...interesting website.
I remember having a cola discussion with you before ( Coca Cola, Fanta and the Nazis)...you really seem to be a cola enthusiast biggrin .
Here in Germany they don´t use high fructose corn syrup, they use sugar beets.
I think the taste of Coke has changed over the years..either that, or my tastebuds are getting senile.
My alltime favorite cola is AfriCola, a German brand that comes in two varieties, one is the original 70´s recipe sold in expensive, small bottles containing 250 milligram caffeine ( in just one small bottle !that´s the equivalent of five cups of coffee) and the other is sold in big bottled, pretty much the same taste, but a bit lower in caffeine, sold in supermarkets whereas the small ones are mostly sold at clubs or record stores etc.
Great cola taste and an energy booster.

You should definitely check it out .

Another new and locally sold cola is Fritz Cola from Hamburg...crazy caffeine content ( around 280 mg) and strong cola flavor.
