Has Anybody Seen "The Phantom of the Opera" (the Movie) Yet?

I saw it a few days ago, and I must say, it was a great flick. I have never seen the play on Broadway, so it was nice to see what the fuss was all about. My mom has seen the play several times, and she told me that the movie made the story easier to understand.

"The Phantom of the Opera" is like a Broadway/musical kind of movie, almost all of the lines in it are sung instead of spoken. The actors/actresses in the movie (especially the lead actress) had impeccable singing voices, they were faultless. And the actor who played the Phantom was incredibly handsome, even when he was wearing that mask. giggle

Actually, the story itself is sad, as I'm sure anybody who is familiar with it will tell you. I got teary eyed several times during the movie, especially when "All I Ask of You" was sung (that song always makes me cry, it's just so beautiful!). cry sigh

If you haven't seen this movie yet, then you need to check it out, because it is a good one. thumbs up! LOL - my mom said that she was not sure if I would even like the movie. giggle I told her, "Sure I do, I love Broadway/musical type movies where people are singing and dancing." Shoot, I love art in any form, really.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Have you ever seen Phantom of the Opera? It's beautiful, exciting, and sad -not at all boring.

I saw the movie version on Sunday. Loved it!

Phantom Of The Opera is NOT an opera, nor is it intended to be. Its a Broadway musical with a contemporary score.

"The Phantom" definitely has a plot, and is not boring in the least.

Shoot, I haven't even seen "Chicago" yet.

I do plan to see "The Phantom of the Opera" though, at some point.

You should definitely see Chicago. I was a big fan of the play (I even named one of my dogs after a character), and fully expected to hate the film version (I was skeptical of the cast, most of all). Well, the movie blew me away! Highly reccommend it!

My boyfriend takes care of a boy with Cerebral Palsy after his regular job at the school. He got free passes for the premiere screening in mid December from the boy's parents. He practically had to drag me out of the house, I didn't feel like going anywhere. Ten minutes into the movie, he realized that it was a musical and got all irritated. I, on the other hand, LOVED IT!!

Very good movie, wonderful, really.

rolleyes Um, not an opera, sweetie. I don't know where Mozart comes into play, either.

Anyway, I haven't seen the movie yet, but my parents took me to see the show when I was 10, and I loved it. I'm going to check it out this weekend. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I was very impressed, it's surprisingly faithful to the original stage production.
Maybe it's too faithful, as I think some of the 80's sounds in the score for
a few of the songs would have been better off updating slightly and giving
them a more 'orchestral' arrangement. All the other changes they made to the
sequence of events (there weren't many) seemed to be for the better though.

lol at the "80's sounds"

Parts of the score made me think of The Labyrinth -but in a good way.
