Loved it but haven't seen the director's cut yet. I saw Mulholland and did not get it AT ALL. Maybe I should head over to salon.com...

though I much prefer the music placement in the original cut.

I've heard that complaint about the music in the Directors cut.

No kidding. The Echo and the Bunnymen song, when Donnie's riding his bike away from the golf course isn't there in the Directors Cut. 'Sup with that??!

Well, I thought the movie was enjoyable, but not really 'deep' or disturbing. The film is based on theories that are very common, I mean, you can find so many literature on these topics. To me the movie seemed as a typical 'let's bring this to the American people so that they can think about it' movie. The soundtrack was what I loved the best. Nice effort, but not a great movie IMHO. But I didn't hate the movie either.

What's the big deal about this movie? Yeah, it was good. But why all the hype?

I know Richard Kelly had originally intended to use INXS' 'Never Tear Us Apart'
as the opening music, but couldn't afford the rights at the time. So it is
definitely returning the opening of the film to the way the director intended,
but the Echo & the Bunnymen track just worked so much better. 'Killing Moon' is
still in the movie, but it now appears at the party scene when Donnie decides
that they have to go (and it's only an instrumental part of the song). I also
miss having 'Under The Milky Way' by The Church at this point too (that song
is now relegated to just being played on the radio in the background when
Donnie and his Dad are driving earlier in the movie).

he already used Joy Division's 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' further in the movie.....maybe too much tearing?
