Probably the strangest event of my life happened ten years ago this February. I was 15 years old. My grandmother had a near fatal stroke in 1994 and my grandfather made plans for us to take my grandmother (who was in a coma)to a faith healer in Ft. Myers,Florida. We lived in Detroit, Michigan, so we rented a huge RV and drove from Detroit to south Florida. It took over 30 hours to get there. We attended church services several times a day for 4 days while the smooth talking preacher drained us of at least $1000 in tithes and offerings. He nearly filled the arena every night with thousands of severly ill people and their families, all hoping for a miracle. We had to drag my grandmother up and down the stairs back at the hotel everytime we went to the church services because no one wanted to see a comatose woman in a wheel chair while they were on vacation. It was the most awful and surreal experience of my life. Once the religious faith healing "revival" was over, we headed back north on I-75 to Detroit and I still cant believe that we did that.

i guess the most bizarre thing for me would be seeing a family member shoot up drugs when i was a kid...that was odd, strange yet true....

I think Dateline NBC has since done an expose on this dude and his "ministry". I think hes taken his business to third world countries now - taking their money.

my birthday is June 21st, and my mom's birthday is in June, and she was 21 when she had me, my best friend's birthday is May 26th, his mom's birtday is in May and she was 26 when she had him. i always thought that was weird.
