Yeah, I'm aware of that, but she admitted that it had been years since she'd done any dancing. I don't think they offered the position to her out of vanity either. She was very good. Some of the dance sequences were so cheesy, but I think it was intentional. Just as Nashville was to showcase the good and bad of Nashville music, this was doing the same for dance. And I won't deny that Altman's work isn't as good as it once was, but I think Short Cuts and Gosford Park are right up there with Nashville, 3 Women, MASH and McCabe and Mrs. Miller.

And you like a lot of my favorite directors. Have you seen Lady Eve? One of my favorite comedies of all time.
[Edited 1/2/05 15:49pm]

Oh, yes. That's probably the best romantic comedy ever made. The scene where Stanwyck plays with Fonda's hair is maybe the single sexiest scene ever.

If you like The Lady Eve, I think you'd also like Ball Of Fire (1942), also with Stanwyck and Gary Cooper. That one netted Stanwyck an Oscar nomination.
[Edited 1/2/05 15:52pm]

I've seen it. smile Love Barbara Stanwyck. And I would agree with you about the Fonda scene, as would Ebert wink I remember thinking that as I watched it, then I read his review, and it said that very thing.

Off the top of my head:

Kill Bill Vol.2
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The Incredibles
Collateral
The Bourne Supremacy

There are still a few I need to catch up on like Team America, Garden State, Ray and a few others.
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

My list will probably change, as I still haven't seen many of the late 2004 films, but here it goes (in no order):

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

Closer

Saved

Spider-Man 2

Hellboy

Hero

Kill Bill, Volume 2

Shrek 2

The Incredibles

Meet The Fockers

...and the worst:

Van Helsing
(biggest cinematic turd since Batman & Robin)

The Village
(the first of Shamylan's films I've truly hated)

Alien Vs Predator bored

I only saw three, Spider-Man 2, The Chronicles of Riddick and AvP. None of them were particularly satisfying, but I'd have to go with The Chronicles of Riddick because at least it showed artistic ambition while the other two were just average Hollywood entertainment fare. smile

The real kick of 2004 was seeing the trailer for Revenge of the Sith prior to AvP. Boy, it looked so good on that huge screen. I can't wait to see the whole flic! razz

God. Who's got the time or money to go and see movies all the time?

I only saw one film last year... Connie & Carla. I was on a date - well, that's my excuse.

Nice assumption. We know what happens when we make an assumption? You make an "ass" out of "u" and "umption." wink I liked Ray, but I didn't love it. Jamie Foxxxxx was good, but as a whole I thought the movie was just okay.
