Aries (March 21 - April 19)

Your January Horoscope by Susan Miller

January could well turn out to be a critical month for career progress, so look over your wardrobe--you may want to spend your holiday cash on an outfit that makes you feel like a million dollars when you go in for a meeting with the top brass. As the month begins, be sure your resume is up-to-date. You may need it if you want to get a surprise offer, which seems likely!

One young, smart Aries executive, Anna, called today to tell me that she had begun interviewing for a new, exciting job in December. She explained that so far she only had one meeting, but admitted that it went exceptionally well. She called to ask, "What should I do now? Should I call the company back to see what's happening?" A true Aries, she was getting antsy for an answer, and the holidays apparently slowed the process. She said had already sent a good thank you letter, so the ball was no longer in her court.

I told Anna that it would be better to wait for the new moon on January 10 before doing anything, and I would give you the same advice, dear reader. New moons are very powerful, as you will see for yourself this month. To call back before January 10 would accomplish little or nothing. You might even hurt your chances of nailing down a fair salary by appearing too anxious.

If you did start to interview recently, it appears that the company executives need to discuss how they felt about the first round of applicants. If, like Anna, you also feel you interviewed well, you have excellent chances of getting a follow-up call. Do nothing until after January 10. I feel they will call you, so hang in there.

If you have not interviewed for a new job, there's an excellent chance that your phone will ring unexpectedly after January 10 or sometime in the two weeks that follow. This is apparently a good job, one that would allow you to make lots of creative contributions, which is important to you as an Aries.

With planets stacking up in Capricorn, be sure to come across as practical and in control--the people you are meeting with don't want a visionary so much as someone who can keep many complex pieces of a project or department together, working in harmony with others. They will value your ability to manage budget, control costs and motivate people effectively. You can be a visionary, too, of course (most Aries are) but I wouldn't underscore this quality now. Let them discover your creative abilities later!

Don't make a decision until you have all the information. It may be slow to come, so be patient. Aries is a "hot" fire sign, but this job calls for someone cool and calm, so try to seem laid back even if you aren't! Once you have all the pieces of the puzzle, you'll know if you want the position or not.

Delay negotiations about salary for the end of the process. This new moon will focus on your leadership qualities and your experience. The money is a secondary consideration to the people you will be meeting with. Knowing this, it would be wise to keep the spotlight where it belongs, on your qualifications. When the moment is right, you will have all the time you need to discuss your salary package. Your chart shows that these people need to be convinced that you can handle the enormous responsibility of this job. Once you show them you can, you will be in a stronger position to negotiate the right salary. Perhaps it will help to know that the type of person they are looking for is not that easy to find!

Saturn will be opposed to this new moon on January 10, suggesting the job would be quite arduous and would require long hours. Knowing this, you might want to revise your salary requirements, especially if you are an executive who wouldn't be paid overtime. I would not recommend changing jobs unless the salary offered is considerably higher than the amount you are making now. If you CAN get the right salary, that's a whole different situation! Take it!

There is one other twist to all this. With the moon, ruler of your house of home, positioned in your house of career, there is a possibility that you would need to relocate for this job. There appear to be reasons you want to stay where you are, so this could present a tough decision.

Should you need to pass on this job, it may be helpful to know that you will have other options in a few weeks--this will not your last chance of 2005 to change jobs. That has to be a comforting thought, and it should take some of the pressure off. Specifically, you will have some awesome career help from your ruler, Mars, from February 6 though March 20. June looks like it will be exceptionally promising, too. There is no need to take a job that is less than ideal if you already have a job you like. If you are unemployed, that's a different situation. You may like this offer because it will afford you a position of true responsibility. In that case, be sure not to sell yourself short.

If you need a runner-up date to schedule an interview, you might want to choose January 13, when Venus and Uranus will be so sublimely angled to one another. Venus is now moving through your reputation sector, so it should be fairly easy to impress authority figures! Venus also rules your solar second house of income, so if you need to discuss salary, you may be pleasantly surprised at the direction talks take.

This month will not be all about dollars and cents--it's due to be about love, too! Watch the full moon on January 25 (plus or minus four days) for a bewitching romantic episode. You might meet someone on this evening if you are single. If so, this meeting is sure to provoke lots of sparkling chemistry. Just don't get too carried away. Neptune is opposed to that moon, so you might not see things very clearly! Sounds romantic! (I have never been a proponent of ultra-reality when it comes to romance! Everyone needs a little mystery at the start.) Have fun!

If you are attached, you will enjoy this lovely full moon, too. You may be on a romantic vacation for two, or you might attend a party or wedding within four days of January 25. If so, this would be quite luxurious--an event not to miss! The fifth house, the area of your chart that will be so lit up, rules pregnancy and birth, so you might find out that a baby is on the way---cause for much celebration.

If you have children, you could also see a culmination of some matter concerning your child. One of your children is likely to make you proud, perhaps due to an artistic talent.

Those born on March 25 will benefit most from this full moon, January 25, but I am splitting hairs! Dear Aries, get ready to have some fun, especially after a month that so strongly emphasizes career.

Single or married, if you feel could use a little pampering, a full moon in Leo (as it will be on January 25) would be an ideal time to book yourself into a spa. (If you go, let me know how you liked your experience! I have never gone to one!)

Other good date nights, earlier in the month, will include:

Friday, January 7 when the moon will be in Sagittarius. The only problem with this night is that you may be tempted to spend too much! (If you can afford to splurge, then go right ahead!)

Add, too, the weekend of January 15-16, when the moon will be in Aries, and your ruler Mars will send a cheery greeting to Neptune, planet of the arts and romance. This weekend will have just the right mix of sexiness and tender sentiment. Lovely!

And finally, add Friday, January 21, a day with lots of pizzazz. Put a big red circle around this date, for it's sure to be a day when just about everything seems to work to your favor, romantically and in other areas. This will come thanks to a missive from Mars to lucky Jupiter-- it's hard to think of two better planets to have working on your behalf! Your luck will stem from a romantic or business partner (or a middleman such as an agent, manager, representative, lawyer, broker, or other expert).

As you see, January will bring you a lovely blend of career /power and love/fun. Enjoy it!

Summary:

This month, dear Aries, you'll need to focus squarely on your career. Just after the new moon on January 10, you are likely to get a sudden offer for a new job or a promotion--either should pique your interest. Although the job will intrigue you, you may have conflicting feelings about it. On one hand, it would be a step up and allow you to garner you a great deal of respect from industry peers. It also would allow you plenty of room for creativity.

On the other hand, the job may require that you relocate. This may not be good news. You may like the city you live in, or might worry about leaving your area because an elderly parent depends on your assistance. Also, it is apparent that your new job would require a steep learning curve and you may wonder how long it would take you to become proficient. Furthermore, there is a possibility that you would not receive a fair offer.

Still, there is no doubt that this position would become a jewel in your crown and MIGHT be worth the sacrifices you would need to make. Only you can say for sure. If you feel conflicted, it may help to know that there will be other career opportunities in February and through most of March. If you like your present job, you can stay put. If you are unhappy, give this offer a closer look. In that case, your chart suggests that you will need to negotiate several points to make this offer more acceptable, and winning those points seems possible if you come across highly organized, buttoned up and passionately persuasive. Take your time with making up your mind--there appears to be no reason to rush.

Near the month's full moon January 25, you will get a chance to enjoy time with someone you adore. Love is in the air, and it's all yours to enjoy.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

Your January Horoscope by Susan Miller

You are beginning the New Year in an enviable position. Mars--the warrior planet known to give courage, energy, determination, and ultimately success--is traveling in Sagittarius for the first time in two years. You are poised to make important changes in areas of your life that need to be improved. If something is no longer working--a job, a relationship, a living situation--you are now psychologically ready to end it or renegotiate terms. You are tired of waiting for things to improve, and there is no good reason why you should. The intensity of your passion and determination will impress all who come in contact with you.

With Mars at your side you can take risks that seemed to you to be too daunting to tackle previously--and succeed! Indeed, a new, improved "you" is emerging, and if anyone underestimated you, they will soon be sorry!

Just one little caveat: Mars will make you more outspoken than usual. As a Sagittarius, you are already known to be quite blunt. With Mars circulating in your sign, you may push your points too far or appear heavy-handed at times. If you come across as bossy or abrasive, you may only distance the very people whose support you need to move forward. Remind yourself to take a diplomatic stance as you courageously barrel forward.

One day when you are likely to be VERY forceful--and a day when you can speak softly and still be likely to get every point you want--will be January 28, when Pluto and Mars will link in Sagittarius. Talk about cosmic power!

You will have Mars at your side until February 6, so the next five weeks should be filled with activity. Mars will not return to Sagittarius for two years, so this would be one of your most favorable times of 2005 to take bold action.

Salary talks and other financial considerations appear to be first on your agenda. Good! Thanks to the new moon on January 10, you will have all the support you need. The Sun, Venus and Mercury will accompany this new moon, so you will have a heavily populated second house of earned income. A new moon is very powerful so don't lose this opportunity to ask for a raise or to negotiate a lucrative fee. All new moons set up a window of opportunity that lasts two weeks, but the strongest period occurs just following its appearance, in the first week.

The problem with this new moon will be old Saturn, which 18 months ago took up residence in your eighth house of shared financial resources, the house directly opposite the full moon's house. Since June 2003, you probably have been frustrated with how tight your finances have been, and with the heavy monetary burdens you have had to shoulder since that date. Student loans, alimony or child support payments, credit card debt, a mortgage payment or other financial responsibilities have pressed on you. No matter how you have tried to increase your income, your efforts seem to have been stymied, and you had to find ways to cut back or lower monthly payments. In the process of streamlining your budget, you have had to face certain difficult realities. (At first, you probably were in denial, but Saturn tends to keep up the pressure until we pay attention.)

At this time, Saturn will stand in precise opposition to the new moon, indicating it won't exactly be a piece of cake to get your raise. You will have to be very forceful but, as we discussed earlier, with Mars in your sign you will not be shy. One astrological axiom is that you should never argue with someone who has Mars in his or her sign--they will fight to the finish and not give an inch! That's you this month!

When you have your interview, refine all the reasons you deserve a raise, with a list of your contributions and victories. Don't let anyone catch you unprepared. One of two things could happen, and you have to be ready for these eventualities. You may get less than you asked, because it is possible that your firm does not have the money in its budget to give you. In that case, if you find the raise you do get unacceptable, you may have to decide to look for a new job.

The other possibility is that you will get the raise you want, but that it will come with so much extra responsibility that you may later feel you got the short end of the stick. In that case, you should also consider getting a new job. If you are told that your raise will be revisited in six months, that could be true--the full moon in the third week of July looks good for your earning power. It's your choice--see what happens.

Saturn will leave its present position in mid-July, and from that point on your financial situation should improve dramatically. It's never simply a case of setting your watch and sitting back. You still appear to have some important changes to make. Perhaps you are in the process of lowering debt, as one example. Saturn gets us back to basics, and then later we can then build from there again. You are reevaluating your values, your assumptions and your expectations. When this period is over you will be stronger and wiser than ever before, and you will probably admit that you learned a lot, albeit painfully. We all go through a Saturn visit two or three times during our lifetime, for a period that lasts approximately two years. Thankfully, your "tour of duty" is almost over. When this phase is done, you won't face another one for 29 years!

Socially and romantically, you certainly will be brimming with sex appeal--Mars in Sagittarius will give you that! You'll be noticed. Forget about "blending in", as there is little chance that will happen! This would be a good time to think about your looks and overall presentation. If you'd like to make some changes to the way you wear your hair, or update your clothes, go right ahead! This is a perfect time to do so! Mars will work to make you much more attractive!

Romantically, January 21 should be an unusually fun date night, when active Mars will work with lucky Jupiter to make it special. Jupiter is your ruling planet and is currently based in your friendship-oriented eleventh house, a lovely place for such an expansive planet. Jupiter will work to bring you in contact with many new people. You may have a party or other gathering to go to that night. It should be special, so be sure to go!

As a runner-up date night, I also like Saturday, January 15. While not quite as exciting as the date listed above, on this night the moon will be in Aries, a fellow fire sign. You should feel very much in your element!

Travel to a sunny distant port could be on your agenda at month's end, at the full moon on January 25, plus or minus four days. Nothing makes you happier than a trip, for Sagittarius is the ultimate travel sign. You may go on your trip for pleasure, to see business clients, or for family reasons, to see a distant relative or even an in-law. You certainly won't run out of energy with Mars in your sign, so have fun, and bring sneakers so you can cover a lot of ground.

You may also have a number of other things going on at this full moon, January 25. You may hear a settlement to a court case, get good news about a publishing or television project, or crystallize an endeavor that relates to college or higher education, whether in the role as a student or professor.

If you were born on or within five days of November 26, you will benefit most from this gorgeous full moon.

Summary::

The holidays are over, and you've been generous. It's clear you need more cash to pay for all the gifts you bought. It is no surprise, then, that you are setting your sights on getting a raise now. Be warned that extracting one from your boss may turn out to be a little harder than you assume. If you do manage to get your increase, it may be less than you wanted. Or, if you get all you ask, it may be because you have accepted more duties, too. Later you may feel that you got the wrong end of the bargain. Should that happen, at that time, look for a new job. You would be able to find one just after Labor Day.

Happily, by month's end, you will be able to focus on two favorite activities: long-distant travel and /or the chance to study a topic dear to you. Sagittarius loves to learn, and either activity will allow you to broaden your horizons.

Mars will be in Sagittarius all month, so seeds you plant now have potential to bear a great harvest. View this month for what it is: a rare chance for a fresh start. Should you feel you are faced with an "against-all-odds" situation, remind yourself that with Pluto and Mars in your sign, you have the cosmic clout you would need to win. Show the depth of your passion and determination and no one will be able to turn you down!

Home and career will pull you in two very separate directions. It will be hard to serve two masters--your boss AND your family (or landlord/ roommate)--but that looks like what January will be all about. With an ever-increasing workload, an employer who won't let you off the hook on the job, along with urgent decisions that will have to be made at home, you surely will have your hands full.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)

Your January Horoscope by Susan Miller

Last month likely found you running from pillar to post to make sure the holiday was a happy one for every member of your family. The problem was, the holidays seemed a little more work than play for you. No matter--December has your name and romantic fun written all over it. With Venus, Mercury, the Sun and new moon all in divine-for-you Capricorn, crowded in your fifth house of romance, this should be one glorious month.

There will be lightness in the air and a spring to your step. If you are single, this is sure to be one of your most important months of 2005 for socializing. If you are single and hoping to find love, be open to new "types" and to the introductions of friends, your most likely source for meetings this month. You seem to be about to encounter smart, conservative types who may work in the banking and brokerage world, or who work for big companies in management functions. (This applies to male or female Virgos.)

Attached Virgos will get a double dip of pleasure. If you are with someone, with Uranus in your seventh house of commitment you've probably experienced a few ups and downs with this person. This month may bring out the upside of your alliance.

It's time to reconnect with the very soul of your relationship and remind yourself of the reasons you fell in love in the first place. Life together has to be more than a series of days filled with work, bills, and tasks. You need the silly fun that formed the glue of your union, so let loose and don't worry about present or future problems for a while.

You've been working so hard it may be tough for you to turn on a dime. Give yourself a few days to slide into fun mode (as crazy as that may sound). It's just not possible to go from work-mode to romance-mode without some transition. If you can, you may want to go away together on a romantic vacation--start your trip over the weekend of January 8 or January 15. Planets in Capricorn point to a beautiful mountainous, wooded area--perhaps a ski resort?

Generally, vacation or not, your best date nights this month will include: Saturday, January 1, when the moon will be in Virgo, and even better, Saturday, January 8, when the moon will move into Capricorn. Jupiter and Venus will smile on that moon.

The month will just continue to improve. The new moon in your true love house on Monday, January 10 will initiate two important weeks for socializing.

Thursday, January 13 will be a wild card day. On one hand, Saturn will oppose the Sun, which could bring on a depressing circumstance, perhaps due to a criticism someone makes about you.

On the other hand, the same day, January 13, will bring a lively interaction between Mercury, your guardian planet, and Uranus, planet of unexpected events. (The surprises may come to your love life, in regard to children, or even your career.) So, as you see, you will either find January 13 filled with terrific surprises and all kinds of good news, or just the opposite, that a black cloud had moved over your head, depending on how things have been going in your life. If it's the latter, don't let anyone take your confidence away. In a day or two the feeling will pass. (It's also possible that this day may bring a contrast of both types of news. See what happens.)

This month there could be talk between you and your partner about having a baby. Saturn's position suggests that you may be worried to hear this, even though you may want a baby badly. Don't be worried. As a Virgo, you tend to analyze things in an effort to anticipate every eventuality in advance. However, that tends to put you in a frozen position, unable to move forward or back.

Having a baby is a blind act of faith, a statement about your belief in love, beauty and the future of the universe. Having a baby is the ultimate plunge and probably the most romantic thing you will ever do. Chances are, it will also be the decision you'll be happiest to have made as you look back on your life in old age. So while romantic stars shimmer brightly this month, know that most people feel there never a good time to commit to a new baby. If you want a baby and your partner does, too, go for it. Just get that baby here on earth--your love for the baby will help you find the ways and means to care for it.

If conception has been a problem, this month may bring a breakthrough. Also, you may want to check into adoption just after the new moon, January 10, as there are many small orphan children in the world who pray for a happy home and caring parents.

Many Virgos work in creative fields. If that includes you, you'll love the energies of this month. You should have no trouble coming up with new ideas. The Sun, January 10 new moon, Venus and Mercury all will work like friendly little relatives to help you achieve what you are after. Spend some time on your craft--you should be very pleased with your output.

If your birthday is September 12 (or within five days of this date), you will benefit quite a bit from the romantic trend sets in motion by the new moon on January 10.

You seem to be very interested in feathering your nest these days, as you will have Mars behind you providing lots of sparks. If you need to move and didn't find a suitable space at the new moon last month (December), Mars will lead you to find a number of interesting spaces this month. Be determined to find the right space, because if you look, you have good chances to find it now.

After February 6, your dazzling home-and-family-related vibes will fade. Take advantage of your excellent chances to resolve domestic matters before then. The same holds true if you want to sell property--do it on or near January 21. Thanks to the interaction of Jupiter and Mars, you could settle on a price that is better than you expected!

You need not do anything as radical as move to a new address to take full advantage of Mars' energy. You can improve your present space with a handsome new piece of furniture or rug, or refresh the color of the bedroom with a new coat of paint. Any changes you institute now are sure to be enjoyable, and could boost the morale of those who share your household.

You may notice a greater than usual interaction with a parent this month, too. You might want to check in with your mother or father see if there's any news you need to know.

Mars sometimes brings conflict to the surface in the house in which it tours (in this case the house of family members). This could work out in one of two ways. You may find that you need to air an old grievance with a parent or, (more likely) that you will keep getting yourself in trouble by saying the wrong thing! Some readers do report this tendency, so if you think that a dispute is possible, it might be best to take a diplomatic approach.

More likely is that Mars will provoke a need to help a parent in some way. Or, you may decide to drop by your parents' house more often to keep your mom or dad company. Just watching TV together can be fun--while you are there, you may learn something about your parent that you didn't know before. (Learning that my Little Mom, 85, enjoys watching MTV's surfer competitions was a real revelation! When she saw I was surprised, she looked at me with her big blueberry eyes, and said smiling, "Why not? It's an exciting show!")

The full moon on January 25 (operative plus or minus four days from its appearance) will fall in your twelfth house. This is a quiet, restful influence, perfect for crawling under the covers with a good book or laptop, and hiding out for a day or two. This full moon will fall on a Tuesday, which makes taking time off from work unlikely. However, if you feel run-down and on the verge of the flu (this is possible, unfortunately), by all means try to slow down, take a day off to nip your cold in the bud.

If you feel fine, it would be a magical day to schedule a massage at lunch hour. Take a little time for yourself, and put your own needs first. Dear Virgo, this month should be all about you. I think you should enjoy it quite a bit! What a great way to start the year!

Summary::

Almost everyone associates fun and love with the winter holidays that by now have come and gone, but happily for you this year, January should bring social events that glow even MORE brightly now then any events you might have experienced over the holidays. In December, your concerns about meeting family holiday expectations kept you on edge, but with that mission accomplished, you can feel much more carefree in January. You are a hard worker, but try to give yourself permission to be a bit more carefree in January.

Indeed, with four planets partying in your fifth house of true love, January could become one of the most important months of 2005 for finding new love or enjoying love you have with a present partner. If attached, choose a few special nights to celebrate your bond.

Your creative energies will reach all-time highs, too, so if you take the time to experiment with a beloved pastime or current project, you should turn out impressive results that will wow others around you.

In January's last week, wear a warm scarf and hat to ward off a winter cold.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)

Your January Horoscope by Susan Miller

Wow! What a powerful month you have ahead! With the Sun, Venus, Mercury and the new moon lining up to help, you are fiercely determined to make 2005 YOUR year, and rightly so! Rarely have you had planetary power like this! Get your wish list ready and start making it a reality.

Your date to launch your major plans will be January 10, the time of the new moon. New moons present hugely powerful windows of opportunity, operative for two weeks. (The energy is strongest just after their appearance, so choose to act in the days that cluster close to January 10.) You only get one new moon in your sign a year, so make this moment count!

Each month when we speak of new moons, I usually suggest one area of life in which to act, indicated by the placement of that new moon and any friends this moon has brought along. As I mentioned above, this month the lovely new moon will find the Sun, Venus and Mercury in her entourage, and each of those planets is very positive. When you have planets in the first house of personality, as you do with planets in Capricorn, you don't have to direct your attention to any one area. Instead, YOU get to choose how to use this new moon. It's your birthday gift from a caring universe, and you can use it any way you like.

Everything would be ideal if it were not for Saturn, sitting like a large, immobile boulder in the seventh house, opposing all your Capricorn planets. Saturn first showed up in this part of your chart in June 2003. What seems new this month is that you may be more aware of Saturn, and of a partner (named by Saturn). You may be more frustrated by a long-term situation involving this person. He or she appears to draining energy and light from you, whether a marriage partner, significant other, business partner or close professional collaborator. Actually, this person may be a competitor.

This could be due to one of three situations: In the first scenario, you may be worried about the health or well being of a partner. Your partner may have been suffering in some way, either because his or her health has been poor, or because your partner has encountered some very difficult life circumstances, such as the loss of a job. You have had to care for this person physically, emotionally and/ or financially, perhaps for a long time.

The second scenario is that you have not had an easy relationship with your partner, and you may feel this month that you are in a tug-of-war. You may be in the throes of breaking up, or trying hard to save your alliance. In this case, you will not see eye-to-eye any longer, and in many ways your partner will only hold you back.

There is another way the second scenario would assert itself, in that you do have a basically strong union but your recent career success has made your partner feel a bit jealous or deficient in comparison. You do have Jupiter in your tenth house of career success, which will pull you to the very top this year. (You may have seen some evidence of your new direction last October. If not, if you work hard, you still are poised for a huge victory.)

In this case, you may not even be aware of your partner's insecurities, but if you think it's possible that he or she may feel this way, the best course of action would be to ask and to talk about feelings. Once you get everything out in the open, you may see an improvement. You may just need to assure your partner that his or her time will come.

The third scenario that you might encounter is, if you are in business, competitors may be creating severely tough conditions for you, blocking your efforts at every turn, and trying hard to eat your piece of the pie. It is also possible that a big client has been throwing his weight around, making you very tense. This client would be quite demanding, and ask for all kinds of special services and privileges that have been wearing you to the bone. If this is the case, you are fortunate in that you have Jupiter, the planet of luck and good fortune, in your tenth house of fame and honors, indicating you can surmount any difficulty.

Still, you will have to use a lot of energy to keep tap dancing, but it appears you are getting better at managing this situation. As my mother used to say to me, "Man learns through pain." In your situation, she would have meant that when you reach the point where you feel you can't continue to give as much as you have in the past, you will find ways to contain the situation. You won't have much choice! You'll be exhausted and unable to lift your head off the pillow!

Saturn is the teacher planet who wants us to learn from certain experiences. At this time in your life, Saturn's lessons have been focused on your closest relationships. You have had to think deeply about many facets of your dynamic with this other person: What is reasonable to expect from a marriage or partnership? What are my responsibilities to my partner? Have I given enough? Have I given too little? How can I best help my partner? How can my partner help me? How can I keep up my strength if I have to help a partner over a long period?

In the third scenario listed above, you have been challenged to be very resourceful and imaginative in dealing with outside competitors, and how to be an effective manager in handling unruly clients. These are all very tough situations.

Saturn is the planet of reality, and you are expected to be very practical. Most of us harbor some illusions in various areas of our lives, and in some ways those illusions help us keep going. You seem not to have that luxury lately. It's time to acknowledge what is going on in your life in regard to this partner, and to make a decision or plan, at least for now. Saturn is your ruling planet, so if any sign can deal with this problem effectively, it's you, dear Capricorn.

This condition won't go on forever. By mid-July, when Saturn moves on, you should be in a far better place, with many of the questions that you face now resolved. You have dealt with this for so long (18 months, though it feels longer) that you probably have come to the point where you feel this situation will never end. It will.

This month, you will be more cognizant of your partner and the situation you are facing, particularly near January 13 when Saturn opposes the Sun. If you have no partner in your life, you will probably not notice these influences in your life as powerfully, but you may have a problem with a rival or client at that time.

Every case is different, but what is important here is not WHAT the challenge happens to be for you but HOW you respond to it. Under pressure, we reveal the truth of our character. Once you find the key to dealing with this challenge, you might be able to apply the same principals to future obstacles.

Let's go back to the fact that you have a birthday--or just had a birthday recently at the end of December, and can expect a nice little gift from the stars this month. You have a lovely, positive new moon in Capricorn coming up on January 10 that will present you with a unique opportunity not to let this partner situation define your entire life. I realize that you may be dealing with a very serious, debilitating and draining situation, and if so, I am so sorry, but it's time to widen your perspective.

Allow this new moon to help you move forward in another area of your life, one of your choosing. Choose an area that means a lot to you, an area where making strides would give you much pleasure. That is the beauty and the gift of this new moon, just in time for your birthday.

If you were born on January 10 or within five days of this date, you will be able to enjoy an even stronger surge of energy because this moon will touch the mathematical degrees of your Sun.

Let's move on to other parts of your chart. Mars, the energy planet, is now lighting your twelfth house, indicating that you are still in a planning, reflective stage in some major area of life. The decisions that you put into place now will get the green light for action once Mars moves into Capricorn on February 6.

So set up your blueprints and know the timetable--plan now, act in February.

In the meantime, this month, watch for happy career news to arrive on Friday, January 21--a perfect day for a meeting or presentation. Mars in Sagittarius will reach out to Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, now positioned at the very top of your chart in your house of fame.

Finances in terms of taxes, credit cards and loans, will be your focus on the full moon, January 25. You may finish up your taxes, and it would be a good time to organize things. It also looks like money will flow out, with checks in the mail. Why not buy a scratch-off lotto ticket? While it does look like you'll have to write a hefty check, there is a tiny possibility that you could win a small prize. Good luck, dear Capricorn.

Romantically, if single, let others come to you this month--it seems you won't have to make much of an effort! You will have Venus in your sign from January 9 to February 1, indicating that you will exude considerable charisma--you'd forgotten you could be this charming! Venus boosts magnetism to a very high level!

The only day to watch for a bit of an obstacle will be January 27, when Venus and Saturn will be at loggerheads. On that day, keep your head down, out of the line of fire and you should be fine.

Summary::

Birthday month will be your most personally powerful time of the year, dear Capricorn, for you'll have Venus, Mercury, the Sun and new moon supporting your dearest wishes. For best results, make your most important initiation toward your goal just after the new moon, January 10.

With Venus in Capricorn, this will be an ideal month for shopping, pampering yourself and generally enjoying life's little luxuries.

One little problem: In this glorious month, you would logically expect your partner to be there to support you all the way, but that probably won't be the case. In fact, you may find yourself in the bizarre situation of having to cajole your main squeeze into rooting for you. With so much success around you, your partner may feel jealous or deficient in comparison.

However, there may also be a more serious reason your partner can't support you. In this case, your partner may be suffering, perhaps due to poor health or other adverse life situation. In that case, he or she may need your help.

Another possibility may be that you and your partner are about to split. You may not have made a final decision about that yet, or you may be in the midst of a tough divorce or separation. It does show that this person is a factor in your life, and may be drawing on your energy reserves quite a bit. In six months this situation will improve or disappear altogether. Hold onto that thought: No difficult situation lasts forever.

Don't let difficulties with your significant other get YOU down this month--keep marching onward and upward. This is your time to shine.

Financial matters will need quick attention near the full moon, January 25--if you have a reserve of cash, you may have to dip into it then. If not, get a lotto ticket and hope for the best!

That's why it's a good idea to read the horoscope for your Rising sign as well. See, when they talk about houses, they need your rising sign and since there are 12 possible rising signs for each sun sign, they just interpret your horoscope as if your sun sign was also your rising sign. That leaves out 11 possiblities.

So I read my Libra horoscope and pay special attention to what is aspecting my sign, planetary information like: Jupiter is in your sign all year, Pluto has been aspecting your sign, Uranaus is moving into Aquarius. Then I read the Taurus horoscope and pay special attention to what she says about houses, i.e. Full moon in your 7th house, Saturn in your 2nd house, etc. Astrology is very complex and that's why it doesn't always make sense.
