Anybody been to the sales? I bought a couple of things from Next. One blouse, I took to the counter and she said, "you know this is not on sale," I said, "but it's got a sale sticker on it," she said, "that was a mistake," Legally they have to sell it at the price marked on the item, even if it is a mistake, as long as it's not worth thousands and marked at ten quid etc. Anyway, I said, okay. ( I couldn't be arsed to argue it.) She said, I'll go and ask my supervisor, she came back and said, as a gesture of goodwill we will sell at the price marked. I was like, well you have to do that anyway, I bought it!
My eyes can scan a shop like a lioness protecting it's brood in the Serengeti, but I never go over the top. Im like, have it.. have it, I dont need it that badly. It's mad out there, people elbowing you in the ribs, men standing around looking bored with pushchairs. Women with eyes and hands like heat seeking missiles. Bad thread [Edited 1/2/05 2:48am]

maybe you can edit title and story into something like : What a great guy this Alf really is.
or about bkw's hangover or the sunburn of althom or subbie's grocery list or 9s sexual deviations (why anyone would shag a tractor ) You don't scare me; i got kids

The Wife and I headed out to the sales on the 27th. We're after a couple of new sofas, but we'd been waiting for the sales to start. We got the girls strapped into the car, drove all the way there, got parked in their car-park, a semi-submerged strip of tarmac round the back of the building, got the girls out of the car and barely negotiated them around all the puddles, went inside and were told the sale starts Tuesday 4th.

i'm not into the crowd scene like that. i'd rather enjoy the experience of buying something i need and want without the push and shove of anxious buyers.
that being said, i did buy myself some black boots from marshall fields during a 'sale' day last week. the 'after christmas' markdown. it was a madhouse, and i only went because i'd been hankering after those boots for some time. people everywhere, ladies with scowling faces, over-worked clerks trying to find the right shoe sizes. i lucked out. someone spotted me with a demo boot in hand, found me the right size in a box and presto! chango! i was in and out of there in about 20 mins. love the boots, too, and they'll come in right handy since we got a boatload of snow last night

i mean, there's no denying kilts are classy. *sly attempt to bring thread back on topic so as not to incur the wrath of the authORGities
