The film Hook?

Anyone like it? I find the story of "hook" interesting. The fact that PEter has now grown up and Wendy is now an old lady was a great idea. Kinda sad though.

Plus Dustin Hoffman looks completely different as Captain hook himself.

This is an overlooked Speilberg movie. Robin Williams does a great job acting wise. As do the rest of the ceat. Even the kids.....

"looky looky, I got hooky"

One of the best family movies u can find.....

? Yeah it did I guess. I use "olverlooked" alot recently.

Did u know Michael Jackson wanted to be the Robin Williams character? Apparantly Michael was really pissed off at Steven 4 not choosing him. Back when this was made Michael still looked normal enough to maybe pull the role off.....? What u reckon?

I don't think Michael Jackson then or now would be a good enough actor to pull it off. And even if he was acting his ass off, all people would see it that it was Michael Jackson.

I love the movie "Hook". It took a lot of flack when it came out because it changed the "Peter Pan" story, but I do like the twists in it (Peter being grown, Wendy being old etc)

I think the only thing that detracts from this movie, and in the end dates it, are the pop culture images....the lost boys hip hop dancing things like that.

I c what u mean. From jackson's "acting" in Moonwalker, I too would love but can not c him pulling off a starring role. But he said he loved Peter Pan so who know's? All I know is that movie would of been proberly one of the biggest films of the 90's if Jacko was in it!

i love it, even though it is somewhat flawed. love the twist on the original story, and dustin hoffman is a riot as hook. it's my favorite john williams score, and one of my all time favorite scores, period.+

I love this movie, I really like how they portrayed the whole story a little differently.

Robin Williams and Duston Hoffman are great in this film. I think one of my favorite parts is when the lost boys have the food fight.

my biggest problem with it is the silly thing they did with the lost boys making em skateboard and play basketball and all these things that really timestamp the movie for the time it was made.

It would have been better if Spielberg had gone with Sherilyn Fenn as Tinkerbell, as he was going to do originally. Caving in to the studio & casting Julia Roberts really detracted from the film.

I, too, am one of many who liked Hook.
I didn't care in the least that it changed the story...as I took it, it was just a possibility of what could have happened, later on in life, to Peter and Wendy.

As for MJ being in it...*ugh*...I can stretch my imagination well enough to accept a lot of things in movies...but that would've broken my limit.
As proof, I direct your attention to "The Wiz".

It may seem too corny 4 some. But I c through that and it kinda brings out the child in u. biggrin

I think Julia roberts does well in her role. I read Speilberg was dissapointed with the final result.

I only got a few scores.

Balderunner
Black rain
American tale
Land before time
The pagemaster.

The last 3 are James Horner, so i guess I quite like him.

"black rain" has only one side of instrumentals. Really good though.

In "hook" I remember a song "when your alone" (?) in it. Is it in the score. Kinda nice in a corny kinda way

True. But the critics HATED this movie. To be sure, they have a point. Ebert's review faulted the film for looking inauthentic. I think he says "You can tell this is a film set."

Personally, I love this film. But I don't think it was one of Spielburg's finest hours.

The only part of AI I really loved was Ministry, but I wasn't in the right mood for it I don't think.

Should I give it another chance? I can blame you later, right?

Actually, you don't need to. A movie will strike a certain chord with someone and that makes it special to them. LOTS of people don't like this movie. I only like it because it has special resonance for me. Don't waste your $5 on renting this one.
