i much prefer my barbell...however be sure to get the same (or smaller) gauge. i did not! i got a larger gauge (unbeknownst to me) and it actually hurt more when i changed it then when i had it pierced. you're only as old as you feel..............so how old do i feel Now that food has replaced sex in my life, I can't even get into my own pants.

For me, I think it's because I put a lot of energy into being relaxed and in a good headspace for the first one, and then that was blown before the second one. If I had taken an hour or two (or a day or two) in between it probably would have been better. On the other hand, I'm not sure I'd actually DO it that way, as I'd rather just buck up, deal with the pain of the second one, and have it over with. Mine rejected. I need to have them redone. Looking forward to it. That sucks that they rejected. I'm glad I got them both done at the same time too. Knowing how much it hurt, I'd probably have chickened out on the left one. Both. I actually had one reject and repierced, and then the other one started to go, so I gave up on 'em both. They didn't get infected so much as the jewelry just started to move out of my body and the piercing got really shallow. I guess it's common.

I'm planning to have the right redone as well. i didnt know that one rejected!! that sucks

Unfortunately even if you look after them properly your body still might decide it doesn't want hunks of metal shoved in it. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

meow85 said: On Thursday I went out and did something I've wanted to for a while: I got both my nipples pierced. 12 g horizontal barbells.
Congrats! I had one done in 1995, but it stubbornly refused to heal, so I took it out in 1997. In 2002, I re-pierced that one and had the other one pierced in the same session. They've done just fine. Like most people, I thought the second one hurt more. Part of it was probably because I saved the re-piercing for last, though... I expected that there would be additional pain when going through scar tissue. A tip for anyone considering this piercing: it seems to be less painful if the piercer has you lying down rather than sitting upright. I think it's because lying down makes it easier for you to relax. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

The first time, I knew it would hurt, but I had no idea how much pain to expect. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Nope... I was just trying not to give up on them too soon. I'm thinking the 2nd one hurts more because you're bracing for it that time. The first time, I knew it would hurt, but I had no idea how much pain to expect.
I've also heard that the first piercing uses up some of the body's natural pain killers. But I'm not qualified to express an opinion on whether that's true. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

I did, from 1995 to 1997. I also had just one ear pierced between 1994 and 2003. These days I prefer symmetry, though. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |
