I really try not to most of the time.

I'm keeping it to smoking only when I have weed these days.

Fauxie

I've given up, but if I hadn't I'd say after a meal, while drinking beer, while chatting on the org, while posting on the org, while walking, before and after taking my ventolin inhaler, in the shower, in an elevator, while scuba diving and while rescuing a stricken cat from a tree. Those would probably be the most common, were I still smoking.

brb.

My worst place for smoking is the car. EVERY time I get in a car, I want to light up. Even if I only get out of the car for 10 minutes to run an errand, once I get back in the car I automatically light-up again. This makes road trips very dangerous. I've been known to smoke almost a whole pack of cigarettes en route from MPLS to Chicago.

Only when I am in your porch! lol I don't need to light up though as there was enough to go around! woot! You share!

BTW more women die from cervical cancer than anything related to cigarettes, why don't you go post a thread encouraging everyone to get their yearly PAP if you care?

Because that's totally irrelevant. Smoking is an unnecessary casual activity, chosen for leisure out of stupidity/ignorance/the need to rebel, that causes nothing but harm. Not to diss on people hooked from the 70's or people trying to quit, but if you start smoking now, you're a fucking moron.

well I've personally smoked for over 10 years, including having quit for almost a year a couple times. Why did i go back? 'Cause I like it lol...but anyway, I think drinking is far worse than smoking. People you've never even been in the same building with don't die because you smoke, they can if you drink though.

BTW not taking preventative health measures (something I'm guilty of as well), especially those that are available at free public health screenings is as bad as smoking "just because" etc. I do agree people shouldn't START necessarily, it's not a GOOD thing, but those that already do, well, that's part of them. Again, you don't give a shit about these people from the tone of your posts, so why bother preaching? You seem AWFUL pissed off about it.

and to answer JDs question. after (good) sex and after eating turkey (by no means confuse or mix up the two)

i do plan to quit though...which i'm sure i've said a few times before. it is a nasty habit but i certainly don't appreciate someone calling me a moron for my addiction. positive reinforcement works so much better...maybe i just need something else to do with my hands and mouth....

it is stupid to start now...but that certainly wasn't in your original post and to tell those of us that were unaware of the hazards when we started smoking as children to 'enjoy cancer' is quite ignorant. its obvious that you have never smoked (good for you...not sarcastic...honestly i'm happy for you that you never started) but it is proven that breaking the habit of nicotine is the most difficult addiction to beat...aparently more difficult then heroin (never done that so i don't know firsthand) i just know that time after time i have failed in my attempts. i just find it rude and uncalled for to have a. someone call me a moron and b. for me to 'enjoy cancer'. i would never tell an alcholic to enjoy their liver disease. or someone who is obese to enjoy their heart disease. but maybe i was just raised differently.

Cigarette smoking in the car is indeed dangerous. My friend Miles was gonna throw it out the window and nearly ended up stubbing it out on my frickin' face! That wasn't before he through his kitten at me which scratched me twice!

When darin and I were driving home from Winnipeg many years ago he threw one out the window, only to have it blow back in and down his sleeve inbetween 2 layers of long sleeves so he didn't notice till it was practically burning a hole in his skin. sad
Probably karma for littering, though. giggle

nod

I could've dealth with the burn on my arm, but it also burned a BIG hole in my favorite Charlatans shirt! sad

:applause: this isn't a debating thread. merely a friendly chat about it , emphasis FRIENDLY. he's just baiting as is obvious. it's like he's yelling "FIRE" in a crowded theatre.

anyway, to answer the question: after a meal is the most satisfying cigarette for me. My meal just somehow feels incomplete...and sometimes unfinished...until I've had one. It is awful hard not to overdo it when on the PC, and the first one of the morning is...refreshing, if somewhat a shock to the system on the go.

well hey, I also said "not to diss anyone hooked from the 70's". three of my heroes, joni mitchell, yoko ono and sinead o'connor, smoke for similar reasons. let me clarify that i'm paying out people who began smoking recently for no reason or began it now cause it was cool, and continue to enjoy it as a leisure activity. it can do you absolutely no good.

while i agree with your basic sentiment Squiggly, no one likes to have the obvious pointed out to them. 60% of smokers want to quit and wish they had never taken it up. it's really up to the smoker to quit, blah, blah, blah.

while smoking will kill 2/3 of all long-term smokers, marijuana on the other hand has not been proven in any conclusive form to cause schizophrenia. the only thing that can cause schizophenia is shizophrenia itself. pot and other drugs are known to highlight the effects of the illness when taken in very large, abusive quantities over long periods of time, but they do not CAUSE it.

peace
