The House Of Flying Daggers - Grrrr.

Dear Ang Lee,

mad

I'm sick to the back teeth of being made a monkey of by clueless film critics and fourth-rate directors. Five stars everywhere. Dazzled. Was in the thetre before I'd even put my second sock on yesterday morning. And what did I see? A three hour long perfume advert with fight scenes. Bastard!

I sat thinking if it was simply Arnold and Sly as the two main characters ("I am Wind. I am carefree like the wind." "Like the wind you must be stopped." Arrgggghhh!!) and not two anonymous brooding Japanese guys, this movie would be viewed as no less ludicrous as Commando or Cobra with not even quarter of their guilty fun-factor. Bastard!

It's simply pretentious pish, Ang. This movie been made for the wee insecure pseude-intellectuals who thirst serious ass-kicking and blood spillage in their movies but view themselves as too high-brow to look out a good Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan film. Bastards!

Yours unamused,
23,
Scotland.

neutral

PS - Don't use the cinematography arguement. And I understood the underlying metaphorical content too. nod

Hehe, and what did poor Ang Lee do to deserve such rant? because THOFD was directed by Hero´s director, Zhang Yimou (I´m not sure I spelled that right)
