The Waiting Game.....

Don't you just love how employers call you in for an interview, then wait 3-4 weeks to call you back for a second interview? I just had that happen to me, a company that I got a job interview through a job agency just called me back about a week ago for a second interview. The interview went well, now comes the fun part, waiting forever to hear whether they want to hire me or not. err err

Don't know about the rest of you, but waiting to get a yes or no answer drives me absolutely insane!!!! I know, "patience is a virtue", but patience is one thing that does not exist in my vocabulary. I realize that with it being holiday time, employers are not moving as fast to make a hiring decision due to the fact that a lot of people are off/on vacation/with their families around this time. But, holiday time or not, employers seem to love to make a prospective employee play the waiting game, they seem to purposely stretch it out agonizingly long, until I'm ready to say, "Oh, forget it, I'm not interested."

I just talked to the job agency and asked them if they had heard anything yet. They haven't, and the woman who got me the interviews told me that she wasn't sure if she should call the guy that I interviewed with, or if she should wait until he calls her. I hope I get an answer tomorrow, I would like to wrap this up before the new year comes in, so I know what my next step should be.

It would be nice to get this job, since I have bills coming out of my ears right now, so many that I would have to take money out of my savings account to pay them (which I don't want to do). Wish me luck, I'm going to need it.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Thanks. I don't want to go over the job agency's head and call the employer myself, since the job agency communicates between myself and the potential employer, and vice versa. If I call the company without her knowing about it, I don't think she'll like it too well. smile

I am in this exact same case scenario, I have been through 3 interviews that I know went well, I obtained a good vibe.

However, I understand the position and the wait needed... and I must wait well into the new year... sometime after Jan. 6th.

Painful indeed... it's a wonderful opportunity with endless doors that can bring much growth... personally/professionally.

...

~Sigh... the wait is incredibly painful, making a new step in my life is critical at this time.

~Plus... this is a job opportunity within the hospital I currently work in (Pediatrics), not in relation to an agency.

your job agency should be on top of that - if only for their own commission!

sorry to hear you're having to put up with that! keep looking though, it's always good to have several things going at the same time! keeping my fingers crossed for you! hug

hug Good luck to you, Freespirit. I hope you get the job (sounds like it's a good possibility, since you've had 3 interviews and they all went well). smile

hug Thanks, and don't worry, I continue to look in the local Sunday paper, online, etc., looking for and responding to as many job opportunities as I possibly can. One of these days, something has to work out, so that I can find a job.

hug You went through this with 3 different companies, and it took the company 3 months to hire you? How did you manage to keep your sanity during this period of time? I'm hoping the company that I had the 2 interviews with makes a decision before the New Year rolls in, but I'm probably expecting too much. lol

nod I had four interviews with the company that hired me...they were even talking about a fifth!
It was really hard to keep my chin up during that time, I just pretty much chalked it up to "whatever happens, happens."
If you don't hear anything by the week after the New Year, I would call them to see what's up. smile

Heavenly

I'm thankful that all the job interviews I had in life went well and I got all jobs I was interviewed for. Sometimes even had a few offers and was basically interviewing them to see which job I'd like better biggrin

I was always in a position that even if I don't have a job in my field, I can always find something else to do.
I hope it'll be the same in the US. Though I already have a boss that will take care of me there, I need to make sure I earn enough to buy women biggrin

A good company will do a very careful interviewing process (and probably talk to quite a few candidates). I see this as a positive sign about the company, rather than a negative. Hang in there and good luck! thumbs up!
